  Late in the evening on September 30, 2013, the House Rules Committee Republicans changed the Rules of the House so that the ONLY Member allowed to call up the Senate's clean CR for a vote was Majority Leader Eric Cantor or his designee -- all but guaranteeing the government would shut down a few hours later and would stay shut down. Previously, any Member would have had the right to bring the CR up for a vote. Democracy has been suspended in the House of Representatives.

  The republicans have the lowest approval rating in US history from what I read the other day. So other than a few states in the south I don't think there's going to be very much republican votes in any elections for quite some time to come.

  From what I am hearing the whole government shutdown is just a ruse. Since they all agreed on NDAA and Patriot act, it's hard to think they will go to such extend to fight for the people. From what I hear US government is facing financial collapse, and is about to default on their debts, this is just a distraction to keep people from knowing the much MUCH bigger fuck up. I really hope this theory is wrong, but at this point I am taking this into consideration.

  OK: I came on this forum because I know it's about as far on the left as the map will allow before circling back around, and I wanted to see just how ignorant everyone is about Obamacare. The answer is extremely.
  
  Apparently no one here seems to know that you (Americans) must buy health care insurance before January 1, 2014 or you will face penalties such as fines. Got that? Ok, moving on.

  To help with this problem, people at, or 4x above the federal poverty line can apply for subsidies to help pay. (there's a bunch of stuff like only 62% of Americans know about this, and the Congressional Budget Office expects only 6 million will apply, but I can't find any sources.) That makes it sound a little less worrying, right? That leads us to the next problem
  
  Very few people will actually be able to apply for Obamacare for quite some time to to the poorly designed website and it not being able to handle the masses. The site has a massive bottleneck where you must submit your personal information for evaluation for subsidies. This is expected to last through out the year. Good luck meeting that January 1, deadline!
  
  Then there's the employer mandate: "Businesses who employ 50 or more people but do not offer health insurance to their full-time employees will pay a tax penalty if the government has subsidized a full-time employee's healthcare through tax deductions or other means." Read that, you'll see that this is making businesses change full time employes into part time so they don't have to deal with this shit. This means people are working less and earning less!
  
  To sum this all up: Obamacare has created a situation where millions of innocent people are going to start being fined for things out of their hands and then they're going to lose hours at work and earn less because of this law.
  
  Yeah, fuck the Republicans. Fuck them for not sticking to their guns and being able to change this horrifying mess. You think the government shutdown was a disaster? You'll be pining for the days when the during the government shutdown when you thought that was bad.
  
  Obamacare might force me to move in back with my parents and give up on college because I can't afford these fines. So wile this is merely politics to you, this is personal for me. I would like to be able to say I told you so in the future and watch you kick yourselves, but I'll be to busy suffering with everyone else to care about that.

  Most of what you posted is on the Wikipedia article, which I read as well as all the citations. However, I would like to see some sources on these reduced premiums, as Google searching is mainly showing me them being raised in the future.
  
  I don't see how the plan tiers has anything to do with what I said. Tiers mean as much as subsidies do when no one can access them.
  
  Also, Faux/Fox news is as bad as MSNBC. And as I have posted, you can't really tell propaganda from fact (Amber Alerts never were shut down), so you really shouldn't be one for pointing fingers.

  It would literally not be possible for Obamacare to have a net average premium increase. Given the boatloads of extra bodies bankrolling the insurance firms, even keeping the same premium would result in a massive windfall. There'd be no sense in wringing the cash cow dry by also raising premiums.
  
  That said, there are lots of technical issues, and Republicans would have been wise to latch onto those. And wiser still to drop the partisan blinders and make the best of law since it already passed. Going for improvements might have yielded success.
