  It is abuse proof on the basis that the method of abuse prevention is not leaked. Therefore it does indeed make perfect sense that we cannot let the members know how the process is done. It passes from me.
  
  The best everyone can do is just let it go. The whole point of this was to prevent voting drama, so replacing it with method drama doesn't really alleviate anything.

  The "I don't want to sound like a dick" line was more towards how I'm a little iffy on if enough work or thought was put into the system. As for voting for myself in every category: yeah it was a dick move and yeah, I'm a dick. Though in this particular instance, I feel more like I'm doing the world a favor by showing my gripes as well as providing some actual evidence as to how this system will be taken advantage of. Though to be honest, this "tampering" is nothing new. This could be done via polls in the years prior but it could at least we could see who voted whom.
  
  And being honest? Heck, I was very straight up and honest about what I did. I actually only made my post after I voted for myself as a means to get some good out of my silliness.
  
  And please realize that you are being quite hypocritical when speaking against "troublemakers". Why did you reply to me? It was because you wanted some internet justice and you knew very well that I would respond to your allegations which would lead us down a path of infinite moral debating about a polling system.
  
  Well, since I am the villain and you are clearly "The Great Auborg, Defender of All That is Pure", let me do you a favor. I will now do the somewhat stereotypical "road to redemption" as this plot's villain. I have seen the error of my ways and will not allow our legendary scuffle to go any further! I will not reply to your retaliations as you have already served your purpose! Through your guidance I have seen the light! I apologize for all of my mistakes from the time I hit that seagull with a rock as a small child, to this very moment! Exclamations!

  That was a thing every year since we started this. It gave nobody a chance to be nominated or vote for in anything, because if somebody posted enough or had enough rep, everyone would vote for them. Even if they didn't really deserve the category.
  
  I understand it's really weird, but please bear with us for the time being. We're trying to make this fair, to be honest with you.

  Isn't it quite simple that if you voted for yourself in every category, it will eventually be nullified? I'm pretty sure there will be rules in determining whether it will be a valid vote or not.

  It's kind of sad that some people can't be trusted to behave, but at least spotting the fake votes is pretty easy. Some people very obviously don't belong in some categories, maybe don't belong in any of them.

  I actually quite like this idea. If it does run again I would definately want to consider this.

  Unless when you choose, it's like this site in which that allows you to recommend people. but i hate public campaigning because it makes me more likely to not vote for said person.

  Well there are pros and cons of both methods.
  
  Voted nomination:
  Summary: Other members recommend your candidacy for a category a month before voting. If other members recommend you for multiple categories, the category with the highest number of recommendations is the one you will run for (ignore tie possibilities for now). When voting starts, other members can only vote for you in that one category.
  
  Pros:
  -"people who want to [run] but they don't feel they "deserve" to [can run] (assuming someone else thinks they deserve to)"
  
  Cons:
  -It's cumbersome. Basically, you're using the current system followed by the new system so the first loop is subject to all the weaknesses of the current system. This basically just eliminates some troll voting for 1 person for all categories in the second loop (unless you want to argue that someone on this forum actually deserves all categories which will never happen).
  -Trolls can abuse more. People can nominate you for a category you will never win. Let's say I make an amazing guide; the best guide in nation history. I get nominated for the funniest member category. Not a chance I'll win an award now. TY trolls.
  
  Self nomination:
  Summary: You select which category you want to run for a month before voting. Voting starts. Voting ends. Winners announced.
  
  Pros:
  This method is troll resistant (not immune but more resistant than any other method).
  1) Inactive players can't select themselves therefore they can't be voted for (there are many former nationers who had a lot of influence. There's no chance their remaining followers can vote for them now)
  2) If you're going to be a dick and vote for yourself, you can only do it once now.
  3) If your friends want to be dicks and vote for you for all the categories (and no one deserves all the categories), they can't.
  
  Cons:
  -People who made an impact early on in the year but are inactive near the event won't get voted.
  
  Ultimately what I think it comes down to is going with something that has the least number of weaknesses. No system is perfect. If there was, there would a utopian country with a perfect government somewhere in the world. That won't happen. The best we can do is compromise and try our best to curb abuse as much as possible.

  Let's say you're new, I really think your posts do a lot for the community but you're not stop popular around here, I know not many.people
  People are going to vote for you so i. vote for someone who is really popular with a lot of rep I like because I know they have a shot at winning and my view could mean the difference between winning and loading for the person I vote for
  
  any kind of peoples choice awards are always popularity contests, that's how they work
  Those that are well known within a community have a significantly better chance of winning that someone who is cast in the shadows

  I think something to consider next years is only allowing people to vote for someone in one category
  (meaning I can't vote for kenero for poster if the year and guide if the year)
  
  And having a lot of categories and making it where you can only win one category per year (like if you got 7 votes for funniest, and 6 for guide, you would win funniest and the runner up for guide would win that category)
