Sooo, I always wonder if I'm ranking the right skills or using the right enchants, and one of my main wonderings has to do with if it's more useful to have a higher defense rate, or a higher max and min damage, more specifically max.
Both have obvious pros and cons; with defense you stay alive, with damage you kill monsters fast, but I wonder what's most efficient..
I mean, is it worth 4max and 2min if you lose 3 protection? Or is it worth losing 40 HP for 29 max dmg? Or +14max but -5 Defense.
Like...at what point does losing all that defense really start to matter, and what's your optimal trade-off point?
For me, I lose all of my defense and all of my protection cuz of my enchants, and a big chunk of HP, and I wonder if I'd be more useful if I focused on defense rate instead, even if I lost a lot of damage.
How do you balance dmg and defense? Or is one explicitly more useful than the other?

I think anyone would sacrifice defense for dmg if the person has a playing style in which he/she doesn't get hit very often. Besides the little defense given through enchants is barely noticeable in hard Dungeons/Shadow missions.

That's not true at all. There are a number of mobs that do 1s to me in hard level shadow missions. The most the normal mobs hit me for is in the 20s and I never get criticled.

There is always mana shield. It really depends on the type of player though. I prefer damage and critical rate over defense/protection most of the time.
+HP can be good/bad thing depending on your total HP and how strong the monsters you are fighting.

It really is dependent on the player's style of play (like maybe it's more beneficial for laggy players to buff defensive stats). Most damage-oriented players I know improvise their defense with a shield and weapon on the auxiliary slot though, plus activating Mana Shield. Then there are those who prefer very low defensive stats and HP to exploit the auto-Deadly rule, and activates Mana Shield in multi-aggro situations.

My defense already sucks, so I don't usually care if I have -def enchants if I can have +max.
I usually die in one combo from a monster in sm's anyways.
I don't rely on tanking to stay alive :l
I need to lrn2lowhpbuild.

The point of Mabi is to not get hit, so if you have enough damage, getting not hit just becomes easier. I run around with 9 defense on average, but I have decent crit and damage too. If I get hit I'm phucked hardcore, but with practice, you can play through almost anything without getting hit.

Its really situation wise, also how much def/protection are we talking? If its only like say 5 defense, it wouldnt really help you out in dungeons. But if you go for the full 30 def and shield, it may increase your survivability (is that even a word?).
Whenever I range in Adv or Higher Shadow Missions, I tend to ditch about def/protection and just go for damage + Seduced succubus title, as either way I die :D, but if I'm only doing something as easy as ciar basic or int missions I try to buff up my defense cause taking 1dmg is epic

29 Max Damage >>>>>>>> 40 HP
14 Max Damage >> 5 Defense
3 Protection > 4 Max 2 Min
Thats just my opinion anyway

Heavy multi aggro will decimate low HP builds against fast mobs.

I almost never encounter those anyways.

Fast mobs aren't the problem with lowhp, the problem is heavy ranged/magic multi. Unless they're fast and have ping, like BSRs.
Regardless of speed, if mobs only have melee and no heavy stander, lowhp can handle it easily by spinning with a fast pet on cover duty.
On the other hand, heavy multi-aggro causes a huge problem for tank builds as well. It takes numerous ranked skills and very high end equipment to be able to handle multi-aggro on the level that would "decimate" lowhp.

I'd personally sacrifice all defense and protection for more damage because I'm a dual-wielding windmiller. And I always have HP potions to [s]poison myself with[/s] use if I encounter magic/ranged monsters (although usually what I do is stand in a corner and snipe away). In the end, it really depends on how you fight. My guild leader prefers to get more protection and use a shield to charge rather than melee for a lot of damage, but then, he isn't really a meleer. I'm impatient though, so I'd rather clear dungeons as fast as I can without getting hit. :( Or pot myself to death and get hit...then have my delicious heavy stander kick in. <3

exept on armor, all enchants are usualy way better for damage than for defensive stats. as for armors, if you need defense, you can keep good damage and defense using avenger armor.

If you never get hit why do you need defense?

I believe in the axiom, "Don't get hit."
At this point in my character's development I choose damage over defense/protection. As my play style adapts to the increasing number of skills I can bring to bear to kill my target, Defense and protection over damage becomes more and more appealing. Perhaps one day, my character will have enough innate damage dealing ability, that some damage on enchants can be sacrificed for defense and protection. But that day has yet to come for me.

Yes. Adjectives turned noun ftw. :-)
