Kind of random, but this has just been something I've always wondered; how long'll it be before Mabinogi goes down?
I'd put my guess at around 5-10 more years or something.

5-10 years? Hardly. I see 2-3 more years at most, unless they somehow radically add a new major content package to the game. Something like when they added Shadow Missions and suddenly we all had a LOT of new things to do for years, and we still run Elites to this day. We need something on that level, something like a classic dungeon renewal.
They can't just keep adding new talents and skills and tiny quality-of-life changes and hope that is enough to keep players playing. A new suite of content to run and goals to shoot for is needed. Looking at Tarlach and Ruari's server populations are just an early indication of all these facts, really.

2-5. I estimate 2 years or less. We need new content, maybe content (missions) That scales with certian stats and levels to make an appriate difficulty, and adjusts the mobs for the player(s) in the dungeon

I'll expect mabi to be near its end when servers get merged. It's how most MMOs go down.

Wtf@people saying mabi is going down in less than 2 yrs. highly unlikely.

Not unless a game similar game to Mabinogi comes out and better in some way
Out of all the games I've played, mabi was one of the ones that stands out
And I haven't seen any other with the cool music system

Long live the eternal gachapon.

It's engine is so old.
Kinda hard to stay competitive with a game that's limited like Mabinogi.
Don't get me wrong, I love mabi.
But damn man.
Doesn't have much life left in it.

No idea would be the best guess, there really isn't really a way we can determine when its demise will be. If you leave some game behind, or have negative feelings towards it, it doesn't mean that it will die shortly after. I can't see it going down anytime soon, it does make nexon a pretty good amount of money, which is all that matters for them in the end. However, both sides of the spectrum (a shorter time and a longer time) can be influenced by forces that we have no ability to predict. They may do something to kill the game really fast, or may do something that prolongs its value indefinitely, and until those things happen, there's not really much we can say about the lifespan of a game.

I thought Mabinogi would go down after 4 years it started. Saying it had 1-2 years at best. There wasn't much to do in the game and it was all pay for everything.
Then when it got its 6-7th birthday, I said it had 1-2 years left, I didn't believe it would go on due to improved technology and poor content ideas.
When its 8th birthday came, I definitely said for such an old and terrible engine, and new technology coming out, and poor content ideas at the time, they were going down in 1-2 years.
Now that it had its 9-10th birthday, I am tired of playing the grim reaper and decided to let it ride itself out. If I continue this game of predicting Mabinogi's death, I feel like this game of cat and mouse will go on for a while.
And if Mabinogi does continue for another 9-10 years, there's a good chance that I will be "dead" to it, since I predict I will have a family, responsibilities to both that family and job, and other higher priorities notice that will keep my attention away from Mabinogi and leave it as a fond memory, even if the game is still online and running.
To that sense, I made the resolved that if either Mabinogi outlives my playtime or my playtime outlives Mabinogi, I will always remember it fondly.

This game has already outlived my fondness of it and I don't think I'll find another game that has captivated me so.

Lol at everyone saying it'll only last for 2 years, as if something is stopping Devcat from making a new type of dungeon/shadow mission. Give it time people.

Devcat said a few months ago they'd eventually rework the client/engine didnt they?

Players have been screaming about the "end of times" or that the game is on its last legs for many years now. And hey look! We're still here.
