What's one thing you wish didn't exist in Mabinogi?

  Well it's fair to say that those people disagree with having to use them, but don't want to intentionally gimp their characters by not using them. I was against the reforge bandwagon for a longass time and now just have my first ele weapon. People need to come to grips that this is an MMO where the primary goal is for the company to make money, and reality check; reforges have gone above and beyond for Nexon in doing that. You were never able to compare a free to play player with someone who's throwing Benjamins at the screen like it's his job.

  I do not think Reforges nor Enchants should be removed, I think Enchants should be revamped and Reforges should be slightly nerfed (me suggesting a nerf is a rare thing) on the elemental reforge side, but buff other damage reforges, specifically the skill-specific ones.

Create strong potentials (potential/cubing is what reforging is called there, but more game breaking), balance content to be challenging for players to use those potentials, free players struggle but its manageable. Make stronger potentials, balance again to accommodate them, then repeat a few times and high level content is near impossible for free players unless they buy other players' equipment, which they cannot afford because to get gold, you need to do the high leveled content.

  This was put very well -- it's almost impossible to generate currency in maplestory, especially as a new player. Even if you do somehow find a way to do so, the ability to "reforge" equips there REQUIRES a trust involved trade or the use of your own money. Mabinogi's potential system is so much better off when compared to other mmorpgs. Maybe I'm just desensitized from having to pay around 5m nx per equip on maplestory when it takes a good 800k to fill out every good equip slot in mabi from scratch, but people in mabi don't realize just how good they have it when somehow stacks of reforges cost LESS than individual reforges and the fact that they are tradeable in general, like wow, having a cash shop item straight up tradeable? That's absolutely incredible to me. Another thing about reforges in mabinogi, I would consider them a LUXURY item. Going back on what you said, the content that scales with the strength of players in maplestory makes it 100% IMPOSSIBLE to complete unless you are funded as hell. In mabi, you can get by with just enchants and stats from character progression and be able to hold your own in most if not all content (you will probably not be able to be a solo player though). This is why there are so many people who can protest the reforge system -- It's not 100% necessary like it is in other games.

  Also yes I completely agree with your enchant protection expense issue, but I think this could be remedied easily by simply making them tradeable. Protection scrolls (normal, not superior) in maple when they first came out cost 11.9k nx per try, and they realized it was a bad business move on their end to have them that high. Now they are what? 4.9k? Less? Free from events?

  No. I blame reforges in general.
  It's because of reforges that Hardmode missions became the new "Basic" and people are blitzing through Lord Missions, then complain about how we need more "harder" content.
  You want hard? Remember that even a little bit of visual/network/connection lag can get you to punch your screen in frustration.
  
  I personally have several r1 reforged items, but not only are they not much of an advantage for me, I don't use them often either. Both my Lance and Bars are non reforged, and I ironically do more damage with those than my r1 Bows.

  The thing is, enchanting is like Special Upgrades: if you want a higher stat, you farm for that ES and risk dura failure. Gold and NX can only get you so far in terms of Enchanting (while there IS the enchanting protection pots), and unlike reforges, not many enchants raise your overall damage by 55.5%.
  That's why Enchanting and Special Upgrades are relatively fair: whoever utilizes it risks something in return.
  
  On the other hand, reforging is simply buying the reforge and hoping for a good roll. Although you can technically argue that the player is spending real life cash or hard-earned gold, ultimately he doesn't lose the item or its durability.
  
  Hell, what do you even define as "fair"? Isn't it supposed to be [risk proportional to benefits]?
  I don't think of spending money on a game to be a "risk", so reforges isn't "fair".
  
  
  On topic: Skill Training Potions since it lets people who do not deserve the skill have them.

  • Wine Making the skill, if this has to be a thing, at least make it effect wine making and not its sole usefulness be a handful of int/will and no any actual change to a skill, process, etc.
    
  • Enchanting, the most backwards skill ever. You enchant scrolls to get higher success rate in burning? How is there no boost to enchant besides durabiltiy loss of the scroll (and not the item). I wish they would had made a Burning skill and a REAL Enchanting skill, instead of half-as* lumping them together.

  In other games where stats and equipment won't cut it and you need to SPEND money for their version of reforge is just not cool.
  
  There was a game in which I had an end-game character but nowhere near as good since I didn't spend money to get that +10 weapon or gear, but kept it to +5 because of how low the success rate was and how high it boost (+7- > +8 non good is 10% success and if you fail the item is destroyed. This applies to anything pass +5, which is why I keep equipment at +5. Use a premium item? Success rate is now 50% and the item won't be destroyed, just drops a level).

  6. Special upgrade
  6.5. Special upgrade fails, back to step 6 or 1.
  
  Way to luck based with out any real weapon choice like there was in the path. Now we all just use the same super weapons with the same upgrade paths and hope the upgrading doesn't fail to much along the way. Enjoy your new 20 million+ sword as Edern chips away at its max dura!
