Would love the ability to move from server to server willingly
Yeah, I am sure lots of people would like this. Even if it cost money, there'd be those who want to because they don't want to have to restart from scratch or lose their limited-edition stuff to join their friends or something. My friend's only regret from moving to my server is that he can no longer get the maid hair(as real hair). :(

The only problem is that it quite literally can't be a thing and never will be. Names can be duplicated from server to server (for example, I was able to make an alternate account on Tarlach using the same username as my Alexina character).

Just because you play on the near-dead server doesn't mean the entire game is like that. It would be wise of you to not just assume things.
Except that for us, that is the reality of this game. If you have it better on other servers, congratu-fucking-lations. We don't. Ruairi's economy has gone to shit, nobody does the raids, every bloody server is pretty much empty except for during events, and the majority of players have no interest in any collaborative efforts. I love this game, and I've put years of work and money into my character, but I'm constantly hoping we'll see a server merge because Ruairi is just fucking dead.

I'm calling bullshit on parts of this post. Regarding raids, you'd find people going to gator, DD, Pd, and Rd. At least that was the case when I bothered a month or two ago. If you're complain about BD or WD it's pretty much the same across all servers. Ruairi isn't special in its lack of attendance in these raids specifically. Usually you'd find people doing the WD at night in ch1 pretty much daily. Then it's not irregular for guilds or players to hist their own BD or WD spawns. I can assure you there is no shortage of participation for those. These things happen in the market channel which is Ch 1 for Ruairi so if you're only hanging around in the others ones then of course you're not going to see that shit going on.
And regarding prices, looking at the other servers market subforums there is less of a differences in prices than you assume. Ruairi isn't over the top in terms of prices and people tend to judge shit like that I regards to their personal goldmaking.
And frankly if you consider Ruairi to be empty then I wonder where the fuck you've been hanging out.
Edit: It's alright to be ignorant, since to my knowledge you've recently returned, but I'm calling colossal bullshit about Ruairi being anywhere close to dead.

>Made money this week selling random crap

for the last six months
>Newbie player-base has spiked recently
Yeah a lot of veterans have quit of late but there's still people to do collaborative things with.

Personally, I think a server merge could benefit Ruairi and Tarlach... thing only thing I wouldn't like is if someone takes my name before I do(assuming it's like RO's server merges, where whoever claims the duplicate name first keeps it).

Being a semi-new player, and hearing all of this and what happens kinda makes me think that they could have done better when it comes to servers and stuff. That's kind of sad that they never saw anything like this coming. But I guess we have to deal with it, or pull a Log Horizon and have people do something about it.

The problem is the game is very unfriendly to newbies, and takes way too long to reach to end-game. (And it cost a lot of money as well) If you play like crazy for 3 weeks, you can reach max level and/or near end-game in most other games without spending money.
Also, the game is getting very dated.

At least to this i can say: up to you (the player). I play on NA since december 2012 and used till now only 20 €.
I think the bigger problem are: stuck mobs, not fixed bugs & player with lack of patience.

I'd argue there are only people to collaborate with if you know who's doing what. For example, I logged in this last weekend to get some of that 3x AP. However I saw no parties for dailys or lord runs at either altar on channel 1 after quite some time sitting around waiting. I also noticed less channel 1 party ad's than I'm used to and definitely less dunbarton and belvast shops. Additionally I noticed black/white dragons spawn but not get defeated, thus implying raiding is down.
If it's like this on a
summer weekend during a 3x AP event, what's it like the rest of the time? Or maybe I came at a bad time.

I have become less fond of the game because unless you have managed to get a good way to earn ingame currency. The game urges you to buy NX to speed up progression. Who wants to wait 3 Weeks just to level your character again. There is litterally almost no reason to use Alternate Characters unless one of the following reasons; Trying out a different Race or Slowly phasing your identity into a different character.
I like the game, i have fallen out of my desire to play the way i have been. I have since moved to a different game until Free Weekly rebirths come. (Which will most likely be never)

If its not MA spamming, then nobody will care. Also, some people are probably holding off until next weekend.

Pretty much what Code said. The whole BD raids died down after a wave of vets quit as well though there are weekday campaigns for WD every night. But yeah, during the weekends of the x3 AP events, people are spamming MA and not selling stuff.
In general though, activity has declined across all servers since there's literally 0 future content to look forward to.

Hey everyone, I want to thank you all for sharing your thoughts about this. I've been reading all your posts, and it definitely has given me more thoughts on the matter. I suppose really what it boils down to, as some of you have said, that the game's old. It may have one or two years at best left in it, at least untill Nexon releases the next big thing. Again, I just would like to say I appreciate all of your input. Not a usual thing where you get a group that will actually thoughtfully discuss a difference in opinion.

In their Q4 report of last year, NX reported a recovery to the peak number of users that Mabinogi once had. That is, their player base surged after they came out with the new life skills/raid content/hero content. As most of their development team is focusing on the Maple 2 release, I imagine will start to see a resurgence of new content starting next year (in KR).
So never say never, haha!
