In general though, activity has declined across all servers since there's literally 0 future content to look forward to.
This has to be the best representation of what I felt when I quit Mabinogi. The main thing that was keeping me attached to the game was its "big" updates (talents/skills/stat revamps).

Blah.
*Hoping for an actual Mabinogi 2*
Honestly, what I do want is for an engine update that'll just change everything. The graphics are dated but have aged well (though some items could afford better synergy), the gameplay is decent (although DevCat should focus more on making the life-skills fun), and the veterans (depending on what server you're on) are generally very nice. Music players have a great way to mesh with veterans, and generally, there are one or two people who'll help out newbies.
As has been said before, the problems is a) the game is dated, and b) veterans don't often reach out to players. They are, in general, helpful, but newbies are too shy to say anything.
A mabi 2 would be nice as well T^T
Huge environments, actually large towns, and great graphics plz ^^

I was hoping for Mabi 2 to keep the "fantasy life" theme in it, and look anime-ish like the original. :(
I don't want Vindictus 2.
In my honest opinion, the only thing I would really like improved is the graphics of older stuff(those pixelated textures, or blocky things like Lorna's squoobs), to match the newer high-quality graphic stuff they've been making. I like the combat system as it is. I guess life skills could be funner. I actually quite like some of the mini games like sewing... just nothing really hard like manual fishing.

Preach on, Jemuzu.
During beta and release Mabi's community was one of the best around tons of people wanting to make new friends, share tips, and help each other out but now the game is plagued by it's terrible community.
Pretty much no one helps out the newbies and mostly stick to themselves or their cliques.
Such a shame too.

From what I know, when Mabinogi 2 was in development, it was combat-oriented, but not as heavily as Vindictus. You'd still have had to rank life skills, bard skills, etc. But yeah, combat style would have been way different.

The problem is the game is very unfriendly to newbies, and takes way too long to reach to end-game. (And it cost a lot of money as well) If you play like crazy for 3 weeks, you can reach max level and/or near end-game in most other games without spending money.
Also, the game is getting very dated.
Honestly i think you're in the wrong forum, i havent spent a cent in this game an i got event pets, a shitload of expensive outfits and gold, and i have never seen that on other games. ever

The combat system is really outdated compared to many of the modern MMORPGs. A lot of modern MMORPGs nowadays have fast paced combat system that includes actually dodging to have 2 way interactions with the monsters. The biggest action Mabinogi has when you just trying to spam multiple pets while doing your combo.
The graphics are dated. The combat is dated. Only recently, the game has improve a lot of their UI/game play features to be more like the modern MMORPGs. It is only recently that they made the game's character progression free and doesn't take forever, (1 week rebirths), and changed beginners mode to level 1000.
So, it isn't really a surprise that the game is like this now.

That's kind of what I like about the Mabinogi combat, though. It's different, not quite hack-slash action, but not boring like point-click-autoattack MMOs. Sort of has strategy, where you choose skills based on what the enemy is going to use. I found the Mainstream boss fights like Nuadha and Ouroboros really fun(though I did them on beginner difficulty), they were lengthy but kept me on edge.
The only other game I've played with a similar combat style was Megaten, but that was really hard without the ctrl-target that Mabinogi has. >.<

Yeah, I am sure lots of people would like this. Even if it cost money, there'd be those who want to because they don't want to have to restart from scratch or lose their limited-edition stuff to join their friends or something. My friend's only regret from moving to my server is that he can no longer get the maid hair(as real hair). :(
I mean, I have friends in Ruairi, back when I started there. And I know a handful of people from Mari. We should have a Tag beside our name linking us to our home-server as to not get confused with people you share names with. It could cost 1k nx for a week pass, and you can return whenever. But you can go to any server you want. do anything there, buy or sell anything there.
That aside, wish we could merge every server and have them focus on making one server perfect instead of the crappy attention they give to all the servers.
I'd love it if that AI lag would stop. . . People take advantage of it far too often.

Mabinogi action was heavily timing and stategy-based prior to summon pets, countless crowd control skills, and of course genesis. In genesis the aim was to 'modernize' Mabi to be fast-paced to keep up with other games but it turned out to make it much too easy and monotonous. If you tried controlling a group or even a couple enemies without using summon pets, instant loading skills, skills that one-hit enemies, or et cetera then you can start to see fast paced action. The dodging comes from mob control, which requires intense timing for skills, and Mabinogi has lost it. It's less modern than ever.
