That's pretty neat. I met my boyfriend on Maplestory, and we've been together for 4 years+ now (known him for 5 years+).
I dragged him to play Mabinogi with me about 7 months ago. Best decision ever.
I finally got to meet him irl this year, so that made me really happy.
We plan to get married someday as well. Congrats on your marriage!
Thank you so much.
I hope you find happiness too.

"We are amidst strange beings, in a strange land.
The flow of time itself is convoluted; with heroes centuries old phasing in and out.
The very fabric wavers, and relations shift and obscure.
There's no telling how much longer your world and mine will remain in contact.
...cross the gaps between the worlds, and engage in jolly co-operation!"

I met my wife on MapleStory.
Just married almost 2 months ago IRL.
We have seen many friends come and go, but only a few have stayed in our lives.
That's really awesome. Congrats, dood!
I really miss having adventures with close friends on MMOs.
Then again, I don't play MMOs much these days, either.
I'm not sure which causes the other. :P

I empathize.
The way things fell together were so random, just like a lot of things.
I am very fortunate to have gone through the shit I did as a kid to be rewarded with such love.
Don't give up.
Thanks man. Working on patching up our friendship, I want to keep at least that much, but it's rough going.
Ah well. Got good friends to help me get by. All my best to you!

That it does, but MMOs give a lot of opportunities to socialize and meet a lot of new people. You have to actively seek and maintain friendships with those people for them to be long-time keepers.
Sure, some friendships just feel like they seem to come effortlessly, but that is seldom at times. Others should reciprocate the same active effort that you make as well. What the most tiring thing is probably if the other person doesn't do the same... It isn't all that great unless the sun is shining on both sides, after all.
I usually prefer that the close friends I make from Mabinogi can keep in contact with me via other things like text, Skype, etc. That way, even if our paths diverge from Mabinogi, we can always catch up to each others' lives within time whenever we see fit. I always love hearing stories about what my friends have accomplished in life after retiring from Mabinogi and am glad we all keep in contact somehow.
On a side note, a lot of the stories coming from this thread make me feel rather happy. Such good reads. [Image: http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mdpjqpFchk1qdlkyg.gif]

It sucks when you see all the people you started playing mabi with slowly die off away from the game. It happened on maplestory, runescape, and every other MMO I've played. Everyone suddenly just left one day, and I was the only one who logged on every now and then to mess around.
I hope whoever quits either tomorrow, or some other day finds something cool to play, or at least invites me to join in on it. [Image: http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/yoyocici/yociexp76.gif]
I miss you a lot in mabi. :<

I found the best way to cure all this is to add your friends on stuff like social media or an IM client.
Im usually a bit more of a loner, but when I am feeling bored theres a list of people I can mesasge to get them online for some party fun, if I feel the urge. I also, when DFO's beta started up, expermented with joining a new guild and it was the most fun I had with making new friends in a long time.
Also, randoms are not that bad, if you find any that will talk to you while your running missions with them.

You know, if you think about it, being alone anywhere kinda sucks...

Im usually alone but that's fine. I love to hunt for rare items and sell them for cash, the only company I need is my money.

It was fun soloing when I was too focused on ranking wm. After I finally reached rank 1, I had no one to celebrate with :(
