When I had learned what anime is (I don't remenber when exactly and how) I discovered that all my favourite shows over the years (to name a few: Daimos, Sailor Moon, Tekkaman and Time Bokan) were in fact anime.
Then the huge anime boom started in my country (sometime in late 90's), resulting in many great series getting broadcasted (Rayearth, Soul hunter, Slayers and good old Dragon Ball).
That didn't last long, though - for whatever reason japanese animation disappeared from TV altogether after a few years. At that point I had lost my interest in anime for a long while, until I went to high school and got stable internet access. Classmate made me watch Death Note and just then I got into anime for real. Ever since, I've been becoming more and more of a weeaboo.

I saw old stuff like Samurai Pizza Cats as well, but I didn't really realize it had anything to do with Japanese culture. I got hooked on Gundam Wing as a kid--it was obvious that the style was unique and it had a lot more depth to it than what you'd typically find in a cartoon on TV, so I looked into it some more and one thing led to another...

I watched a lot of Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh when I was a kid, and I thought to myself "WHOA THESE SHOWS ARE AWESOME WHERE CAN I FIND MORE"
And this word 'anime' kept popping up so I put it into a Google search.
Bam.

Toonami got me started with Sailor Moon and DBZ.. Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, Tenchi Muyo, etc., etc.
As far as subbed anime goes 8D.. I got impatient enough with Naruto and started watching it like two weeks before Shippuuden came out :U Caught up with like 140 episodes before it made it out 83. Funny thing to me now is that I watched it all on youtube haha.

I used to watch Dragonball Z and pokemon everyday on cartoon network when I was like 6. From there I watched things like naruto and bleach. After that I realized I liked the fighting style of some of these animes and I looked for more.

It's actually the reason I ended up drawing, though not until many years later.

I watched dbz when i was younger didn't know it was a anime then bleach, naruto started to air. But i stopped watching it after awhile, during middle school i went to like this little library and my brother introduced me to a manga called psychic academy, i got extremely addicted and starting reading anything to do with manga then moved onto anime. Think this happened like 7years ago or something
I still prefer like 90% of manga over anime to pass time

A friend introduced me to it. Ever since then, I've been watching anime on and off. Depends on how busy I am. There are other things I prefer to do in general when time is scarce, so I only really watch anime when I have a lot of time.

Well, my anime life started with

and
[Image: http://puu.sh/bJ4t0/957c420676.png]
Of course I had no idea what an anime was at the time, and neither did my mom, she just thought they looked like good kids movies.
Years later I would discover

and

On tv after school and on Saturday mornings. I still had no idea what an anime was and had never heard the term, but somehow I knew these cartoons were better than the other ones they played on tv.
Finally around the time I discovered shows like

I learned what an anime was and became hooked on them. American cartoons just can't compare.

My parents brought home the first season of gundam wing on vhs. I was hooked on that anime for a long time. I still occasionally nerdgasm over it.
Toonami definitely got me interested in more titles though. I think cowboy bebop was the second anime I ever watched.
[S]Almost forgot tenchi muyo and pokemon and beyblade[/S]
@Space Pirate Nithiel That digimon was the shit

Most of the guys in my barracks room at AIT (Army training after basic) were really into anime. I got introduced to Anime with Photon: The Idiot Adventures and Desert Punk.
