My girlfriend at the time introduced me to it, at first I found it uninteresting and too nerdy for my style. One day out of boredom I decided to check out the first episode of Naruto. Immediately I was hooked and got caught up within a few weeks. Which at the time being caught up was like episode 20ish of Naruto Shippuuden. I started looking for other animes to watch since I got caught up with Naruto. Got into Bleach and plenty of other shows. Then I discovered Manga :)

YTV
I watched the first season of Pokemon, Dragonball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh, and I think Medabots over there. Not sure if Digimon was on that channel.

Early childhood exposure from older siblings. I called it "Japanese animation" (which is literally what it is, shut the hell up) and they got all pissy about it.
What is referred to as "anime" is the exact equivalent to American "cartoons", except from a different country, and with different tendencies of animation style. Exact same thing, different culture behind it.

I watched Yugioh, Pokemon, One Piece, Naruto and anime-like cartoons back on 4Kids and Cartoon Network.
Eventually I found out less mainstream/kiddie cartoons through online. I was looking for creepy/horror shorts and clips to watch, and I found myAnimeList and watched Elfen Lied (in spanish sub, except I didn't understand it). I couldn't even read/listen to anything, but I liked it despite the gore/nudity involved. Then I found that english subs existed, so I rewatched it and liked it even more.
At the time I also played Maplestory and got curious with the Maplestory anime. Sadly it wasn't fully translated, but I started watching more and more anime afterwards.

I watched Pokemon, Digimon, and Yugioh like everyone else, but I didn't consider them "anime" back then.
Then I was lent Shinkai's "Voices of a Distant Star", along with DNA2, Tokimeki Tonight, and Oishinbo on VHS.

My mom left Inuyasha on my web browser in elementary school when I came home :') my life went downhill from there.

I first started watching Pokemon and Digimon when I was maybe 5. After that I saw some Bleach and Naruto on YTV. Now I'm obsessed with anime, especially ones like Sword Art Online, Log Horizon and .Hack. I can't wait for gaming to reach that level. Am I the only one that would still try to get into SAO during the first season? Honestly, the SAO events are why I got back into Mabinogi...

My first anime was Cardcaptor Sakura when it used to air on Cartoon Network here about 14-15 years ago, I was 3-4 years old back then haha. Used to watch it religiously, but didn't know what all this 'anime' stuff was about back then. I thought it was one of the other cartoon series like Pokemon and Dragon Ball. Only later did I realize that most of my favourite shows were called anime when I started watching Naruto years later and looked into similar series. Then it all went on from there.

I was always interested in Manga books, and one of my best friends was an amazing drawer. One day she spontaneously asked me if i watched anime, and up until then i had always thought that anime was just kids cartoons, i had no idea that i would fall in love with it. This was almost two years ago, but my first anime was SAO, and after that i just got sucked in XD. I still like manga, but now i LOVE anime.
