Wow. I come back from working to find more than three threads regarding the subject of "Mabinogi is dying! ermagherd"... and yet nothing is new.
Patience, people. There are only two things that will tell if the game's going into the gutter: Time, and people thinking that it's going down.

Except the casual playerbase was always there, despite being largely locked out of the game due to the ultimate paywall aka paid RBs. Also it's important to note that DevCat is adding combat content - just not fast or decisively enough (or more precisely, they're not going back and updating the content that was designed for 1000-3000 players that got obsoleted or going back and making the content that does sort of scale more rewarding).
There's a difference between casual and being a fashionogi. Back then there was nothing to be fashion about. Being a casual does not automatically make you a fashionogi.
Though you are right that combat and everything else besides graphics has gone to the backburner, and being crappily produced without much thought.

Another question, why is "fashionogi" even a pejorative, as opposed to another way of playing the game? And yes, collecting matching stylish outfits is playing the game.

I myself am a fashionogi, but as I see it, people feel that fashionogi's changed the focus of the game from lore to such things as crossovers (with crappy events and good prizes) to gatcha culture, however I feel this was inevitable due to how easy it is to code clothing and the fact that the game was free2play.

I still feel the only people having problems finding content to do are the people who paid to win.
For me, I've been working on my character since open beta, with a few breaks from the game, but I sill find content to be fun and interesting. If I had $10k worth of reforges and just 1-shot everything, I can see things getting boring fast. As it stands, there is still a ton left for me to do, and I am looking forward to the Alban Training Camp as a nice new experience. With the amount of progression still ahead of me I can't see things stopping any time remotely soon.
If you find yourself lacking things to do in-game, why not go out of game for a bit and contribute to the game's culture? Learn to compose MMLs and bring in some new material. I'm starting to become really disappointed by the prevalence of copypasta in-game. It's will never return to fighting dreamers bad, but it is noticeable. Make some of your own. Play some of it for another bard and watch a little gathering form around you, turning into a big bard party with everyone taking turns with their music. I recently finished my first piece in a long time, and it feels great.

I'm just not feeling it. What really pisses me off is how easily one can make money from gatchaing but play the hell out of the game and make only a fraction of the money with many more hours of gameplay. For example, I sold a Venom sword for 6 mil, but I sold Azure Wings for 35 mil, and that's within my monthly $25 worth of gatcha. Ofc, what can you do, take the gatcha out of the game?
People just want their effort rewarded from what I can gather, and appropriately. This applies to skillsets too.
Oh, and clothing remaining rare. That bugs me too. I want kitty cosmonaut suit goddamit.

Well, one issue is that Venom Sword sucks; the ducat items got power creeped BADLY. Secondly, there are some centrifugal forces that depress the value of weapons and inflate the value of fashion items (fashion items don't lose value quickly and have high demand, and often go up in price from initial sale, so a 5m dress could be 30m in 3-4 months, so players who buy fashion items make profit off appreciating assets, which leads to more buying power compared to people who don't engage in fashion, also people who buy a lot of fashion items are also good at making profit off bartering, giving them more buying power, which leads to much greater aggregate demand for wings than a Venom Sword).

It has a nice black sheathe and an aura. I think it's pretty fashionogi, if not a status symbol. Certainly one of the more expensive weapons.

I still wonder why ppl pay that amount of gold for something so usless... i have seen ppl paying real money for those too, somehow is cheaper than gamble a gachapon, but honestly you dont need more than 50-200k gold monthly to play this game.
Endgame players dont need weapons neither armors. I run peaca int with just a normal shuriken, hermitstaff (rank 1 i made it myself and is not even special upgraded) shadowbind tittle and Lrod, snapcast or hyra depending on monster. Mabinogi endgame imo its about character development instade of gear, our current durability system makes it near imposible to keep a weapon/armor/clothe alive long enough. Enchants blow up your gear like special upgrades does. Lose dura wasnt this bad, i mean: now you lose 5 upgrades, gem upgrade, special upgrade, reforges and enchants x 2, all of those are time, gold, real money and sometimes mental health. Is rly stressfull to visit edern or wisi and see how your precious item ends up losing 1-2 dura.
Potions available to craft are not balanced to our current amount of stats, this is a healer problem too, also affects monsters too. Lets say a noob (lvl 500-1k) hp should be around 500-1k, int player (5k lvl) hp 3-6k, endgame (10k+) 10-15k hp and a progresive defense stat depending on gear (mostly def stat according to your hp should be around 10% of it 100 hp = 10 def). This mean monsters dmg can increase and their mechanics and skills, healers would be needed if potions are not = to our hp needs. Problem: since we dont have "you need to be xxx lvl to use this" a noob with enough cash could get gear of a player with 1500 def unless we get a new system of "growing gear" weapons/armors that increases its dmg with your stats.

50-200k Gold? I don't think that's possible if you're a mage unless they somehow nerfed wand repair rates.

Please tell me these are all hypothetical figures or something... The 2nd paragraph was kinda uhhhhhh.... But the third paragraph, if your talking about mabinogi and u think these are actually real in game you are sorely mistaken.

Begginer icewand cost 1g repair point. New icebolt is rly usefull, my avarage dmg in alby adv hm is 1k-2.5k. For a noob icebolt is enough for must content

there's no way you're doing 1-2.5 against alby adv hm per ice bolt
