Updated EULA terms let Microsoft invade your Windows 10 computer in search of counterfeit software.
Microsoft's updated End User Licence Agreement terms and conditions let it disable any counterfeit software or hardware and, if you're running a Windows 10 computer, you've just agreed to them.

Welp, not upgrading to Windows 10 ever.

I wonder if this is the reason I can't use my PS3 controller with Win 10 anymore. It gets recognised everytime I reinstall it, but after a minute or two it's not shown anymore.

Doesn't matter. They are NOT a law enforcement agency, and grossly overstep their authority in acting like such an agency.
Its a shame too. Windows 10 actually for the first time in many years has an acceptable and practical UI combining the best features of 7 and 8, and in my experimentation has not shown any major issues with stability or compatibility other than on really old hardware. But the privacy intrusions one after another with no reliable and simple way to positively disable them are a complete deal breaker.
I don't buy the "If you're doing nothing wrong you have nothing to hide anyway" arguement. Privacy should be as much of a right as freedom of expression and freedom of Religion, and should not ever be compromised in the name of public safety no matter how bad the times are getting.
My entire workplace is going to be converting to Linux for all tasks that are not forced to Windows by specialized software, and the remaining Windows machines will not be operated beyond Windows 7 until a more sane version of Windows comes along. Windows 10 has been listed as prohibited software in the company policy due to the risk of Microsoft causing a breach of customer confidentiality and nondisclosure agreements.

This doesn't deter me. I'll be sticking with Windows 10. Plus I don't feel like going back to Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 isn't an option as last time I tried going back to Windows 7 I had too many issues that I didn't want to dick around with.

Unless you're a modder, then it's no problem at all xD
Mods, they solve all the shit Nexon won't fix.
As for the privacy thing. I looked into it a bit more and people are once again stirring up shit over nothing.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/2971088/windows/fears-of-microsoft-scanning-your-windows-10-pc-for-pirated-games-are-overblown.html
The latest mess all started with reports saying Microsoft’s end user licensing agreement for Windows 10 had changed, allowing the company to scan your PC and prevent you from playing a ripped version of Far Cry 4:
"Sometimes you’ll need software updates to keep using the Services. We may automatically check your version of the software and download software updates or configuration changes, including those that prevent you from accessing the Services, playing counterfeit games, or using unauthorized hardware peripheral devices."
That sounds pretty invasive, but perhaps not entirely unbelievable given Windows 10’s cloud integration. The only problem is the EULA the reports point to is called the Microsoft Services Agreement, which is not the Windows 10 EULA. Instead, it’s for Microsoft’s various online and cross-device services—many of which run on Windows 10—such as Cortana, Groove, Office 365 Home, Skype, Xbox Live, and Xbox and Windows games published by Microsoft.
So these terms are most likely a reiteration of what’s already happening. If you try to go online with a cracked version of a Microsoft PC game, for example, you might end up not being able to play that game.
...
The story behind the story: That said, there are many real privacy concerns with Windows 10 where Microsoft really is grabbing data from your PC. But often this data is anonymized and about delivering better security, gathering telemetry data, or improving online services such as Cortana.
If you are concerned about Windows 10’s EULA, however, you are free to read the actual document on Microsoft’s site. Notice that the only mention of counterfeit software deals with activation of Windows itself.
I swear you people are unbelievable and will believe anything thrown at you without looking into it deeper and finding more about it instead of jumping on the whole privacy scare.

by apps, i mean mainly for the whole xbox integration, since you know. that's their policy since forever.
Like seriously, until a company gets someone screwed over by "invading privacy" I will never care.
I work for the government (sorta not really), I already expect no "privacy" but wait, there is!

Well, when EVERY PC news site says the same thing... The one you quoted didn't come out until 3 days later. Also, it's not a "privacy scare", its a very real thing. Even the page you quoted clearly says
That said, there are many real privacy concerns with Windows 10 where Microsoft really is grabbing data from your PC.

Most of which can be easily turned off. Took me a couple minutes to turn off all the stuff in privacy settings and it was easy to get to.
I'd hate to see how you guys react to Google's terms of service for the data they collect. Or how Apple collects your data to say improve Siri.
As for every news site saying the same thing, every one will hop on what everyone else is saying without fact checking. That's the world of news today and why you can't believe 90% of news sources.
Take the time to look into what you don't understand instead of jumping on the fear mongering bandwagon that so many people are fond of doing.

Its pretty easy to fact check. Use wireshark to snoop at the traffic coming from a Windows 10 box, and see what it is doing when you aren't using it. Given the nature of interception they are doing, I would not be surprised if the builtin options to disable such features did not disable it completely. Such would be completely obvious when intercepting packets at the network firewall if the telemetry feature was not being disabled when commanded to.
There's enough people in the tech industry that know how to do packet captures that if this was a hoax it would already have been busted by now.
I'll see if I can get the release version of Windows 10 to install in a VM, at the moment I only have the tech demo working and have removed the upgrade utility from all of the workstations in the building to keep my coworkers from accidentally activating it. The truth will be in the packet captures.

Invading the privacy of millions to stop one guy from illegally downloading Windows Solitaire. Yeah, sounds legit.
