I don't use those terms (Faggot or Gay) as an insult because only the bigots and the ignorant do that. It is like calling someone a Jew or a Communist as a form of insult earlier of last century. I supposed calling someone an Atheist is the new insult nowadays, at least in some parts of the US.

All you niggas are fags. And I want to rape every single one of you.
I think I just broke 2 or 3 forums rules there to prove a point.
Rape, for example. We joke about it all the time, but we don't mean it as it really is. In fact, when you think about, we should never joke about something as serious as rape, but we do, out of humor.
I think it's better to loosen up.
As I said before, if a rape victim sat me down and confronted me, I would stop using the word rape. At least in front of him or her. It's called decency.
Byte said gay. You people confronted him. He edited it out. Simple situation.
As long as he doesn't say it here, all good, right?

I believe the words "gay" and "faggot" are just words. The meanings of these words depend on the context clues. It can be used to call something/someone foolish, or it just means homosexual with the exception of "faggot" and homosexuals should not be called faggots.
I agree.
The term "gay" has a variety of meanings, most of them being either neutral or positive terminology. It has seen more recent use as a slang term for homosexuality. Generally, few people are offended by the word "gay".
I use the term to describe homosexuals, similar to the manner in which I refer to individuals with darker skin pigmentation as "black". Should the need to describe someone arise, I'll be sure to use plain vocabulary.

You know what kind bothers me?
When people refer to gay people as homosexuals. lmao
I guess it's because the word "homosexual" was seen in a rather negative light back in the 70s and Republican still refer to gay people as homosexuals. Same with the Church.
"He's a homosexual." vs. "He's gay."
Historically, it has that negative-ish connotation to it.
But nothing to fuss about, really. I deal with it.

I know plenty of gay people who use the word gay to describe something that is annoying or uncool.
The only people who are obsessed with telling you that you can't use the word are either closet gays or tend to be offended by generally anything you say.

I use gay for when I really mean something seems "gay"
or a play on words make it humorous so I use it for that too (meaning sometimes I'd use it to mean happy too etc)
faggot is definately an insult so I never use it unless I'm aiming to insult someone
and rarely do I actualy use homosexual, cause it's just kinda inconvenient to be using such a long word all the time
and also Nexon censored the word Jew,
and I think that SouthPark was the reason Jew was ever used as an insult (but that was back then, not many people use that nowadays, at least not ones I know)
but yeah I'd stop using the word if someone feels that they are offended by it, and actually tells me

Jews have been a "derogatory" term since like, forever. They have always been the scapegoats for any poor situation so they have a bad name to themselves. Its actually gotten better nowadays.
Same for Gypsies. Which is where the term "gypped" comes from. They were stereotyped to be thieves, scammers, cons, etc.

Why is Jew derogatory? Or Gypsies??
Or GINGERS?

I tend to be careful now when I use the words "Gay" or "Faggot". I remember "back in the day" the cool thing was to say that something was Gay Indicating that something was dumb. However In High School I stopped saying it because I was afraid that I would offend someone. Because If I said something was "gay" I indicate that something was dumb and I didn't want someone, who was gay, to think I thought they were dumb. You know? I mean I guess I will very occasionally say it. I hardly do though, but when I do I make sure I'm not around someone who is gay or who may take it offensively. I've noticed now they're making commercials about saying how you shouldn't say those words.

ah I knew Gypisies were a "derogatory term" but never really thought of "Jew" as on
I even saw Jap as a more derogatory word than Jew
it's probably the people I've been raised around
hell I'm Chinese and I don't see "Chink" as a derogatory term cause it means absolutely nothing to me (I didn't know about the word till 7th grade, and I even had to get the "bullies" explain it to me xD)

Other people being okay with it? Some people just being uptight? Still doesn't make it right. That's the thing with generalizations. As has been said, you can use the same argument with the word ******, and other pejoratives. It doesn't make it cool to be a bigot.
Anyway, I'm a woman in a gay relationship that knows that while many people who use the word
gay to refer to lame, uninteresting, or other negative situations, it's not going to end that easily. I only backed Sin up because a mod should be more than a whistle-blower; they should have the best interests of the community in mind.

I' never use that word. But I'de prefer if it was used in its original form. Why do we have to make so many words that once meant something good, and spin it around to make it mean something bad -_-

This.
I Agree, there is this HUGE gay guy at my school.
He scares the crap out of me, not because he's gay, but I'm scared of getting him mad.

I am working on trying not to say gay, in slang term, more cause my Aunt is gay. That and I try not to be hypocritical all the time.
