The word "Gay".

  Sometimes it's good to know who your talking to as well. Wouldn't want to say that in front of someone you know is gay... but if you aren't I use it alot. Another thing that does help is movement. Everytime I tend to call people/things/cheap shots, I say "OH MY GOOAD DUCHEFAGGOTTAAAAAAAARRRRRGGG!!!", Moving my head around and pretending that fire is coming out helps get the joke around. I even used the word around my gay friends.
  
  Sometimes caring too much about people, is the bad thing to do. You can't PLEASE EVERYONE. Just be confident in what you do, Know what your doing and be able to say your point across clearly.

  Jews can be used to label people when they're being cheap. Its probably because Jews have been stereotyped to be pretty well off financially in history that this term stuck. On top of that, people ended up getting pretty pissed when they started to think Jews were actually stealing their wealth.
  
  I hear it a lot, because I'm pretty cheap with my money, lol.
  
  Chink isn't such a huge issue in America itself I think, because Americans really don't have anything against the Chinese. But when it comes to Korean or Japanese community, chink is a pretty huge derogatory word. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but Asians are VERY competitive, so they tend to boast every success and look down on everyone else. China is a huge target of this because their living standards aren't as good, and they're stereotyped to be poor.
  
  So chink tends to be a very racist and offensive term. You hear it a lot on KR/JP mmo's, when you speak English. They tend to assume you're chinese and start calling you a chink. The slander that follows is very obscene, and I'm a little ashamed to see it come from my kind. Theres even a saying: "You look so dirty! Go wash up, and if some foreigner asks, you're Chinese".
  
  Jap was indeed derogatory, but its kinda dead now that everyone respects the Japanese so much. Nobody cares.
  
  Gook was derogatory too, but the Korean war is pretty much forgotten here in the states. So its dead too.

  Wrong. Almost everyone knows. It's one of those phases that kids go through when they start learning how to swear (by how to swear, I don't mean just using them, but what they mean and when to use them). They know that most swears are replacements of other words, so by saying those swears, and then going "I was only saying cigarette", they think they can get out of trouble. Everywhere I went, I've seen this behavior, so your logic is pretty bad.

  Using this case about "gay", and my co-worker, "Man! My work schedule for next week is so gay!" I raised an eyebrow and remarked, "Gay, huh? That HAPPY about it?"
  
  True, language changes over time, but a word meaning 'happy" to become "stupid" is... stupid.
  
  Also, my dad when I said something to set him off, "Dammit, i'm in a bad mood, don't fk with me!" I had to give him a withering glare and snap back, "I'm your daughter, dumbass. Don't you say that to me!"

  Here's another shining reason to watch what you say. When i was in the dorms, there was this guy i was crushing on who lived on the same floor as I. We kinda got along, and I wanted to impress him. Several people in the room, we were all telling jokes. I was telling a story joke with the punch line being a gay bash. Right before I said that last line, I got a phone call that i had to leave the room to hear. When i returned, the joke telling ended. Later that week, my crush seemed upset. I got him to talk to me, and he came out to me. I was the only person he felt close enough to tell, and I nearly ruined it. That interrupting call was a blessing. He and I were friends for years. I wonder how long he would have stayed in the closet if i had finished my joke. Good thing we'll never know.

  The reason why Chink isn't used by Americans is probably more to do with the lack of Asian focus in history classes. Most youngsters don't know that Jap is even a racial slur, much less even heard of Chink or Gook. But they still hate China because it's such a huge and easy target.

  Honestly I think the word gay should strictly refer to a homosexual person or an interchangable adjective for "happy/enjoyable". Often at school though I notice people tend to say "Your gay" when they mean "Your acting like a jacka**", no one seems to mind though since everyone understands the gist of what the person means, unless theres some closeted insecures, i dunno,
