Some people laugh at Vindictus.
Then they see it.

Pretty much all my friends at one point have played mmos (mainly Wow). At one point, in the the circle of friends I was in, I was the ONLY one that WASN'T play WoW so you can imagine how boring my lunch breaks were... When I mention Mabinogi, they pretty much just laugh at the odd name and ask what the heck is it. Atm, the friend who I spend most of my day with, he plays WoW as well but since mmos in general follow very similar schemes we just talk about the funny things that happen.
I did meet ONE person who plays mabinogi in my local area, but he's an afker nonsocial killjoy...

Simple,no.
If they think mabinogi is gai,its their opinion, not mine.
I think mabinogi is manly.

I'd say no.
Even though all my friends are athletic and can do crazy stuff and all that, they don't find games something to demean another person about (I love my friends :D). They occasionally ask how I'm going in the games and they find it something interesting to talk about and they will even play with me sometimes. Although I'm not as fit as them I can easily do athletic things with them and not fall behind so it's all good in a way :D

Only a true man can play Mabinogi with its flashy clothes, chibi estique anime characters, and flashy mini unicorn pets...
... infact...
... Mabinogi is so manly that if you don't have a beard, you'll grow one and if you already have one, it'll get 12 inches longer.

I don't know why but none of my friends like Mabinogi.
I was pretty proud to play it when I did. It was a top notch mmorpg. I wish more were like it.

From observing the people who visit master's house,
none of them knew what Mabinogi is
but when it comes to MMO, they only talk about maplestory or WoW

somewhat, i try not to be.
i talk about it with people i consider friends but many acquaintances think of mmo-gaming in general as an odd hobby. instead of bringing it up and trying to mold their views, i'd rather just not talk about it and discuss something more pertinent to their views that we have in common. i don't think of people as easily moldable, and i don't think direct effort will avail much.

I'm not very embarassed but I would rather keep it as my private source of entertainment.
Because it really gave that feeling that you could do anything you want. Oddly enough, it's very much like real life, with its own tests and tribulations, unlike many other RPGs out there which was just about grinding to level X or following a certain standard skillset.
It has a fair share of challenges which I enjoy very much. Unlike other MMOs, when you are at the top, you remain stagnant. There's no level cap in mabi so you are constantly open for growth where-ever you wish to go after the standard fare of recommended skills.
There's this sense of ownership that's really compelling here. For some skills like playing instrument or enchanting (a.k.a. alternative to testing your luck at gachapon, and with better chances since the success values are standard), even when you are Rank 1 or master title, that's not the end of things. You can enjoy your skills after the training for an extremely long time to come.
I no longer want people in my area to join me in the game as this game is pretty demanding and the conditions are not favourable for everyone to play the game. This game is top notch and special for concepts, but the execution leaves much to be desired. It was always a problem before free rebirths and everything. My main issue is that there are too many skills and the game gets too grindy for skill requirements. They are artificially prolonging the shelf life of Mabinogi, since typical mmorpgs survive through really short life-cycles. I look forward to the day they can finally solve this, but it will not be easy at all.

I tend to NOT talk about it, unless I'm with people who play games normally. And that goes for games on the internet, NOT video games. I feel as though, because they don't play games like that, they wouldn't understand half of it, or just call it lame, stupid or w/e. So most of the time when I'm playing it, and they ask me what I'm playing, I just either ignore them, give them a cold look, or just say "There's no point in explaining".

My friends always try to tell me about these FPS games ( which I hate ) and they ask, "What do you play then?". I say mabinogi, and they're like "...?". Then I go on to say its from nexon, and they immediately associate it with maplestory and say eww.
