I know the OP's post was complaining about society, not women. But a few posts prior to this page seemed a little more towards women, which is why I became defensive, because men have equal blame in double standards for themselves. Women also have a lot of double standards for themselves. Rather sad.

I wouldn't blame the law enforcement or government though. It's just the way western society evolved after the establishment of the codes of chivalry. The ones we need to blame are ourselves for not being able to realize that gender doesn't determine personality or ability.

I suppose you can say that society makes up the law enforcement as well, but not every area necessarily will treat the case the same way (like with racism, some places are very strict against it and some don't care at all), so society seems very general. I would feel unhappy about the law enforcement in my area rather than society anyway, if I was a guy and something like that happened to me.
