If you look like a halfway competant player in mabinogi you are more than likely going to be asked by another player if they can 'borrow' some gold from you. Also, friends and guild members might ask you for the occasional 'favour' from your wallet. Do you happily lend money to friends, guildies, strangers? Do you prefer to keep a tight leash on your gold and tell others to earn their own gold?
As for me I get asked to lend out gold on nearly a daily basis. I don't know why, it's not like I'm rich or anything. :gloom2: But I also feel majorly guilty all the time for turning people down when they might actually need the gold.
This evening I had a conversation with a guildy that went something like this;
Them: Hey can I borrow 70k?
Me: Hi.
Them: I need 70k.
Me: What for?
Them: I need exploration page 2.
Them: It's 70k.
Them: Can I?
Me: Can't you run sms and get the gold yourself? Shadow wiz is like 10k a pop on basic.
Them: But that's boring >:C
Me: Sorry I don't lend large amounts of gold
Them: awh
Them: How about 50k then?
Me: Sorry
Them: >:| *leaves guild*
Maybe I'm just a jerk. Anyway, post stories of lending golds/feeding the wolves, etc here. I'd like to hear them.

if it's a person i'm very tight with (very), then i may consider lending. They don't even have to pay me back.
If it's just an acquaintance or a guildy i JUST recruited, lolno.

This was a possible new guildy that I decided that it wasn't no harm for him to add me on his BL. Then this happened because of it.
Them: OMG I NEED 100K! CAN YOU LIKE PLEASE GIVE IT TO ME!
Me: What for?
Them: I NEED A 100 PROF GLADIUS EGO!
Me: Wait, didn't you already have one?
Them: Yea...but its 5/5 upgraded
Me: lol
Them: COME ON PLEASE!
Me: Can't you prof your own?
Them: That takes to long, I NEED IT NOW
Me: Why now?
Them: CAUSE! Come on man, your like my Bro (we just met)
Me: meh, fine, aslong as you pay me back
Them: I'll be selling something soon and will pay you back
Me: Sweet (Buys 100 prof gladius for 100k and gives to guy)
Them: THANK YOU SO MUCH! (Runs off to make ego)
2 weeks later
Me: Yo
Them: Hi
Me: How's the ego?
Them: Hungry
Me: Got my 100k?
Them: Not yet
Never saw that 100k again....And yes, he wasn't added to the guild. As for lending money out I'm pretty generous when its to guild members, I gave a guildie 250k so he could get FB 10 and paid me back within a week and also gave another guildie 100k and some mana pots and she repaid my by taking me rafting and adv rezing me a couple of times. But to my BL I basically just say go earn it yourself and I don't really care their response. Same with strangers.

You are much kinder than I am. The only person I'd ever lend lots of gold to is my RL spouse and one or two really close friends. :D

The thing is, is that I'm the guy with the money which sucks balls. So I just pretend that I'm broke ass poor as well and whine with them whenever they beg for money. It all depends with the mood I'm in. If I'm angry I'll play with them and drag it on and give them hope, if I'm in a good mood I'll lend it them after hearing their life story and etc.

I loan out anywhere between 1-5m at times. Although i charge 10-20% interest to compensate for the money lost and Massive check fees.
Cause if i loan out 5m to someone. i end up losing 250k out of it.
Hence i loan shark to guild-mates and close friends.

Um, they have to be close to me.
Guildies are usually fine, since we don't have "noobs" in the guild, but everyone has money so they don't really ask.
Zackeh is the only one who takes my money. 8(

I just tell everyone who asks I'm broke. It's usually true, anyway.

Geez... 20% interest on 5mil is a lot. I bet you could live on just lending interest.

Part with only that which you expect not to get back.
I can't remember where that's from but I always remember it when someone asks for something.
I rarely give anything away to randoms because I can't expect them to give it back because they won't. Guild members, people on friends list? Possibly. Depends on what they're asking for. I've lent 30k to help make a guildie's farm, 40k for an adv feath to revive a friend, etc. etc. Those are all fine and they've all been repaid thankfully. But 70k for a non-expiring page that can be easily gotten for free by walking around in Rano? Absolutely not. Don't feel guilty about such a silly waste of gold just because of laziness.

I never lend or give money away. I don't spam gacha or buy from bots so im everything but rich.
Once was in dunby some girl comes to me and asks me 50k. Im like "you're not easy on begging are you?"
After she insisting and me turning her off, she thought i was rich because the equips i had on at that time. Since when the gears i have on determines how much money i have on my account? And funny how much stuff i had on that time came out from events so they cost 0
I already lent money to people to buy something cheap or to take out something off the bank like 5k. Now 50k, it's like a beggar asking for caviar for lunch

If it's close guildies or very close friends from real life I will. If it's a random person I just say I'm poor (usually true anyway), and I tell them to run a dungeon. If they say they can't or don't want to I say I'll run it with them. Oddly enough most people say ok. I enjoy the company and they learn to earn their money.
Of course you do get idiots, but I'll just cc and leave them to their fate. I guess it all depends on how much you value your time. I just like to hang out. They get their money(not mine) and I get something out of it as well.

I don't usually have gold to lend out, but I'm such a resource hoarder that I usually have some available to give away.

I only lend to people I'm reaaaally close to. Otherwise, I get the feeling that it's not "borrowing" that they're after. Usually, that person will only talk to me because they want gold from me, then never speak to me again. They won't even bother adding me. :/
"It's boring"? How do they think I feel when I really need to grind for something? If they want it THAT badly, they should be out there getting it themselves.

Usually I find that the people who ask for money frequently are also the ones who are always complaining that they have nothing to do.
