yeah the first was pokemon yellow
the cat is now playing Soul Silver owo
Can any of the starters become hybrids?
like have a second type?
and what will most of your time be spent on?
the cat wont be catching them all.
Do you really need to create a balanced team... I defeated all the GBC and GBA Pokemon games using only Ratata... None of the G/S/C starters have tier 2 types. Most of your time will be spent balancing out the levels of your party pokemon and creating a balanced team for those who aren't interested in catching every pokemon in sight and completing their dex.
Only if you plan to spend most of your time with multiplayer metagame. While the elite 4 in Black/White is a bit better put together, you can still sweep them all with 1 or 2 pokemon. Do you really need to create a balanced team... I defeated all the GBC and GBA Pokemon games using only Ratata...

I've been playing since R/B/(Y) and have played casually and seriously (a few official tournaments during my HS days... I dislike the unofficial communities since they'd rather ban something before learning how to deal with it...) but my time is mostly spent on the same things: and what will most of your time be spent on?

The Endeavor -> Quick Attack Rattata combo makes the game so boring though. Not only that, but it's easily countered with hold items such as lagging tail and other pokemon that are MEANT to be slow and let the enemy attack first.
Anyway, no you do not need a balanced team to beat the game. Most of the time you can even solo the Elite Four of pokemon games if you trained your started and only your starter and use the legendary pokemon caught in the game, with the rest of your party used for reviving your fainted starter and legendary. It's just so that you can actually play the game how it was meant to be so it's enjoyable. I don't see much fun in using six purple rats that use the same two moves every battle. Not only that, but you technically can't beat the game with that party unless you traded 6 Focus Bands from a different game to give to each of the Rattata as well as bred Rattata that knew endeavor. So no, you can't beat the game from scratch with them.
NOT TO MENTION you definitely didn't beat the GBC games using Rattata. Moves like Endeavor and items such as Focus Band weren't introduced until 3rd gen. Unless they were all high level, then that's not really happening.
well what's the diff between typlosion and feraligator
6 Ratatas? You only need one. Use stat boosters like X-Attack and X-Defend.
My Ratata was level 76 by the time I defeated the Elite 4. The only one who was hard is Bruno.

Feraligatr is the strongest out of all three, IMO.
Typhlosion's nice and sexy, but he lacks a strong movepool.
The Gator's a brute force. Packs Earthquake, Superpower, Aqua Tail, Ice Punch. Typhlosion's a special sweeper, mostly.
But just go with the one you like, really. It's Pokemon. You choose your favorites.

Typhlosion is geared for team play in end game. Scarphlosion Eruption with Extreme Speed support is really sexy. But in the end, Gator can outmatch it especially having access to BOTH Sword Dance and Dragon Dance.
