All of my guildies are hating on me and calling me a noob because I'm a human and I like to use range... They argue that i'm too much of a coward to go into the fray. They keep arguing that range damage is insanely low and that AR is too slow and all this stuff Dx. Why. EVERY FIGHTING STYLE IS GOOD IN ITS OWN WAY Dx

Are you sure they're not just playing around with you?

I'm a human ranger o-o; Rank 1 Mag, Rank 1 Range, Rank 2 AR.....Haven't worked on Crash and support shot yet

I can imagine them calling you this if your damage fails.

With good dex and equips, ranged damage can be deadly. I kill faster than a lot of people I SM or dungeon with who are around my level with my range. However, I hate range because of the constant missing...T_T
But either way, range isn't for noobs. If you use it incorrectly such as messing up someone's combo with really low damage though, that is being a noob.

Ranged damage is nowhere near what anyone would consider low, specially if you have high dex and good enchants. Human AR might be greatly underpowered, sure, but it's certainly not slow... either way, that's why you get Magnum Shot and Crash Shot 8D
I think they're just messing with you, or have only seen low-mid leveled archers (range has slower damage growth than melee, but after total 1k+ things tend to balance out). Most humans also work on melee before range, so it's no surprise that their ranged damage would appear lackluster at first, even when the character itself is high leveled.

Depends how you use it. Melee obviously over powers it because of WM and how you can spam it, and swords get a higher max than bows.
Like you said, every fighting style is good in it's own way. It all depends how and where you use it. You also shouldn't let them get to you. If it's the funnest for you then keep going with it.

Archers really aren't very strong, especially in higher level places where monsters have absurdly high protection and defense. Advanced magic and windmill bypass protection which allows for high critical damage but the high defense and protection pretty much sucks up all of archery's damage unless you have enough crit to pierce through the protection.
So I'd have to agree with them about the damage, but AR is nowhere near slow. It's one of the fastest skills in the game.. <_< and it's good for stunning monsters if anything.
But because of this archery tends to dominate in areas where you're overleveled due to its sheer speed and the fact that your damage isn't soaked up by anything.
However, I disagree with the above posters who say that range scales slowly in the beginning but picks up later. That better describes magicians than archers. If anything, it's the other way around - at higher levels, you really have to invest everything into crit in order to stay at the same damage-dealing potential as everyone else.

Probably could do 8k+ now.
Range can be scary when backed up with the right equipment. Especially with Ego bows. AR -> WM combo is pretty much a staple to all human rangers and is what I use in most situations. Crash shot owns hard especially with crits but being able to break the protection of mobs especially those in HM is the main challenge.
But an archer with crazy damage and crazy crit will dominate like a boss.

If they're not trolling around, you need to quit that guild.

Quit the guild. Human rangers are decent, Elves are better at it in general.
I'd bash on elves, but its not worth time time :S

Apparently you havent seen how boss archers are in Peaca Int. They can hit 2k crits on ghasts. Crit isnt that hard to get either.

Especially when you can get a good 88% of it from a Stiff/Lizard Caliburn Wing Bow, heck I've seen one with 91% Crit.

Well I have 178 Dex. I think it's not bad for my total (345).
And they're not messing with me.
I'm not quitting. It's a tight guild. It's only these two new newbs who keep arguing with me. They claim that they an kill me because they can use FH better than I can o3o;
Both are under total 100. Both can't solo ciar normal without dying. I've seen it.
