as many knows, g14 brings overupgrade up to 6 and many says this will obsolete ego. I did a few number crunch for overupgraded weapons potential. i didn't account for stuff with rolls and weapon's base stats are used.
-shadow hunter spike highlander long bow-
reaches 125 max damage, 50% crit and 2200 range
(note here that i used the 2H boost for bow as the info i currently have is that bow and 2H have same boost for damage on overupgrades, thus might need to be changed)
-The Rich crocodile highlander claymore-
reaches either 215 max damage with 10% crit or 214 max with 25% crit
-titanic crocodile broad axe-
reach 228 max damage with 14% crit
-reliable spike 200 warhammer-
reaches 139 max damage with 34% crit
-shadow hunter spike broadsword-
reaches 132 max damage with 30 ish crit
i have no idea how hard it will be to get overupgrade up to +6, but i doubt it is harder than raising ego past these weapon. the exeptions are the 1 handed ego wich are still out of reach.

It wasn't hard to get it to 3, but 6 could be potentially a lot harder.
1: 100%
2: 50%
3: 25%
4,5,6 maybe potentially halving each time in success, but with a penalty that the item evaporates?

This has been discussed in the nexon forums' armory section... I believe someone mentioned that there were ongoing discussions to improve the standing of egos when compared to S/R-Type weapons. But yeah, apparently egos are being called "flashlights" for the time being.
You also have to consider that these weapons have no 100% repair option, unless you're willing to spend 7~8k nx every time Edern fails... and the chances of getting the 6 upgrades all at once are impossibly low, so you will be proffing and re-proffing the weapons, which in turn makes repair failures a very real issue.

Proffing and the re-proffing those weapons is still faster than getting level 50 stats on an ego, and maybe less effort.
However, feeding egos is less luck based than upgrading though.

Btw. the Crit Overupgrade for dual wielding weapons stack. Say it's 16% and another 16%. When you wm you do 32% extra crit damage.

Do you only need the stones, then? it doesn't make sense if it were so easy... since you could always spam stones and 30k gold even if you went -1 level after a failure.

You must have 5 upgrades before using the stone. So that makes it so you can just have a normal weapon, use special upgrades until its perfect, then doing the 5 upgrades.

R types focuses on critical damage, stacking with your critical hit rank (Critical Hit damage % + Upgrade %).

Wow... if it's that easy, then ego weapons really need a major buff. I was worried the consequences of failure might be larger (like having to re-prof a weapon), but it seems that's not the case.

Can R Type weapons deal more damage with critical hits then S Type? So if you fail 6 your item goes poof?

Yes, R-Type weapons will hit harder when they crit... but will have less max damage to work with when they don't crit, when compared to S-Type weapons.
Bows, for example, get +48 max damage from a +6 S-Type vs +62% critical damage from a +6 R-Type upgrade. In terms of average damage, R-Type weapons will be better assuming you have capped crit on a target, and this damage difference will keep increasing the higher your base max damage is.
