Actually, when devCAT changed the Destiny system to the one we currently know now, they kept the system of receiving EXP while doing a Life skill. They just scrapped the Merchant class's 2x training, that's all.
For example, Weaving. When you open the Weaving window to put in your materials...

That is the EXP from doing a Life skill (in other words, not training EXP).
The EXP varies depending on the product you're making (though I think the harder the product is to make, the more EXP you get).

The EXP shows up as "Living" EXP on the system log.
I can't wait for this then. I've been starting to work on Life Skills more on my character and more experience makes it much more worthwhile.

without 2x training xp it's not worth at all :/
does it even increase the success rate like production mastery?

I don't see why it should.
It's just added EXP for people doing Life skill. After all, who's to complain about extra EXP? It's 1k EXP for a 10 stacks of Cobwebs, and usually r8 Weavers have to go through nearly a thousand or more stacks, which is ~100k EXP total. Silks/Fabrics are 500 EXP each, no matter the quality.
The only real reason I can think of for not wanting EXP is if you're an Elf training Refining.

So now -everyone- is a merchant... just without the double training rate. But everyone, regardless of Destiny gets to use everything that would have made the Merchant class super awesome: worthwhile exp just from spending time doing production (yay! I could level off of making my weekly potions!) and acces to blacksmith/tailoring/potionmaking that were going to be exclusive to the class.
Here I was thinking they scrapped the Merchant class completely, but instead they just made it available to everyone, at all times. This is beyond awesome, I can completely forgive anything bad g13 brings me. Yay Destiny! Yay Fantasy Living!

Free exp for making things, that's neato.
Gathering exp would have been neat too.
But that makes me sound greedy.
...
Gathering exp would be nice.

I like that idea. Lets be greedy together.

Depends on what I'm ranking and if it's difficult to rank. I really don't care about these "destinies" just as long as I can still do whatever the hell I want.
