  And it all makes sense now. Awesome ending and LOL, Joan of Arc and Cleopatra were mahou shoujo. The "voices of angels" Joan of Arc heard was just QB :XD:

  Posting a summary for those that are confused. Highlight below.
  
  Madoka wish is "prevent the birth of all witches, be it in the past, the future or anywhere in the universe by her own hands"
  
  What this means is she becomes an ominpresent grim reaper that grants magical girls a peaceful death once they hit their limit. This also means that no witches are created and incubators get zero energy from it.
  
  Of course she is still a magical girl and eventually Madoka herself will become a witch, and the payment for making such an absurd witch is to be the destroyer of the universe.
  
  But there is an escape clause. "all witches" includes madoka herself. so yes.. Madoka prevents herself from being a witch.
  
  This cause a time paradox. Madoka now has no beginning or ending. This causes people including QB to lose their ability to comprehend what she is. Her existence is forgotten.
  
  The only person who remembers is Homura, who continues to fight to protect the world Madoka cared for.
  
  We then see how things are in the newly reset world. Witches no longer exist, but in their place Magical Beasts have appeared to take their place. QB can no longer gain energy from magical girl emotions, but since he is still making contracts I guess he is still getting his energy from somewhere. He admits that he would totally farm magical girls if it was possible, though.
  
  We then fast forward several hundred/thousand/aeons later and we still see that Homura is still fighting. She grows wings with cosmic patterns on them and we hear Madoka talking to her telling her to fight on.
