that's what I find funny.. people have a strong misconception of dungeon.
Someone doing a dungeon solo is like hmm... how to explain it.. in a normal grinding rpg, it's like fighting in a lvl 20 area when you are lvl 100 and there exist areas for lvl 100 people...
If you can solo a dungeon, it mean ya too powerful for it already, ya are ment to be doing higher dificulity dungeons.
So until you can solo Peaca Inter within 4 hours. ya can't consider mabinogi to be a solo type of game...
There'd be more incentive to not solo if party exp wasn't divided amongst members, and instead everyone got the exp the monster gives one person.
In a normal grinding rpg? Mabinogi isn't a normal grinding rpg? Mabinogi, like any other MMORPG, has nothing but grinding. Why Peaca Intermediate has to be considered? Why the 4 hours? You can always bump it up to like if you can't solo Peaca Inter in 30 minutes, it can't be consider solo type game. Doesn't make that statement or your previous statement any more correct.
Also, to get to that kind of strength, you need to grind a lot in the lower dungeons so you can grind in the higher dungeons.
The truth is that majority of the dungeons can be soloed, and most of the mainstream forces you to solo. The party system also rewards individual people better rewards for smaller party. Some dungeons are even solo only.
Most mmorpg have very clear area set for a level range.. that,s something mabinogi doesn,t have. I'm just trying to simplify an example you can understand and compare it with soloing a dungeon in mabinogi.
Also why Peaca Inter? simply because it's the hardess dungeon so far. Why 4 hours, cause I felt like it would bem ore chalenging by adding a time limit and 5 hours felt too long. Back when you started the game, were you able to solo dungeons like ciar inter, Alby basic, barri basic and whatnot? Most people would say they couldn,t in the begining.. That simply because it was out of their current capacity. Of course, by relying on party and such, these kind of dungeon are much more easy and possible. Overpowering a dungeon made for multiple people by yourself alone is just doing an activity under your current capacity. Doing a dungeon with other people and having a difficult time but still been able to clear it, is something much closer to your current capacities.
People can grind in higher dungeon with parties.. heck I did it a lot back in my newb days. It was also much more fun than just soloing a weaker dungeon I've seen many times already.
The majority of the dungeon. Well yea, cause you are already overpowered for them.. people who have lower ability that are within the dificulity range of those dungeon certenaly wouldn't solo those. But yea.. in mabinogi, by using the rebirth system (even more by using a lot of payed rebirths) it's fast to overpower most dungeon. Which is probably why shadow missions were build in such a way afterward(not to forget HM dungeons.).. To inforce more party play.
How did the conversation go from "Mods are good, so everyone should shut up and stop complaining about them" to "Mabinogi is or is not a grinding MMORPG"?
Also, I request that people who mod at least have some common sense. Just because you don't see people getting banned for using them, it doesn't mean it's right to do it. For example, if you shoplift and don't get caught, you'll get the notion that you won't get caught, and you will probably try again. You could even brag to your friends, and they will find it "kool" and the likes, but it doesn't take away from the fact that you are doing something "bad". Plus the day you get caught, you'll probably wet your pants o3o. (Not directed to anyone in particular, only to those of you who say "modding" isn't bad).
I'm somewhat doubtful that Nexon has the power to do that. They have sorted older mods out before and over time try to patch out some mods/hacks/whatnot. They could certainly do a lot more but they're certainly not just sitting around twiddling their thumbs regarding mods. I don't think modding is bad. If Nexon really did believe it was so horrible, they would fix it and make many things server-sided. The fact that they don't makes me believe that they really don't care.
Anyone ever had the brilliant idea of showing to nexon how their current font lags like hell?

Dungeon Boss Video removal: There isn't much explaination to be said here. You avoid a minimum amount of time other people have to wait. Such time may be use for other activities which may result in more gold and exp. (Now I hear you guys compalin how minimal that time is.. an unfair advantage is an unfair advantage anyway... ya can't change that fact.) Also, people may use that small time frame to get the the upper hand against a boss and secure the kill for him/herself while the fair playing teammate were left in the dust.
