noone "should" mod
the Dungeon Map thing is fine, who cares about the time it takes, that's the point of a dungeon, if you decide to be lazy and use it more power to you (Demigod already does the same thing anyways)
Mimic Target mod, really? why even use that as a reason, low hp build? use Mana Shield (pretty sure by the time people are able to "make a low hp build" they can afford to get Mana Shield and rank it once, with decent mana)
Durability view can be good or bad, bad that people with OCD will look at it every second to see dura loss, but really it's just bigger numbers that go down faster, what's so bad about that? repair rates are still the same either way, I've never had to "guess" dura loss, because there's no point to guessing, you just repair when it goes down, that's really all you do with dura
the only reasonable reason was the Video skipping, the idea of taking the boss kill, though AR8 is the only thing I could see be a problem, but you shouldn't be partying with random people for AR8 anyways if you wanted it
what Mabinogi should be, is be played by how the developers made it (I mean that Gundam skin mod thing I saw before, really? I mean sure for the lulz, but otherwise go play another game if you wanted that)
equipment exist as separate items for a reason, they're not meant for you to just mod it if you want it (also the point of Blacksmithing/Tailoring)
I don't really care about mods as much cause nexon had addressed SOME of the lag issues (like the opening character menu in front of campfire stuff, those are fixed)
I think there's another category for "unfair mods" <.<

Ignoring a good section of modders? The moment you use a cheat to gain an advantage in a game with multiple players.. that's already a lack of respect for the other player and also lack of courtesy you could say...
How is it a lack of respect and courtesy for the other players?
Some players who don't mod or don't know about modding will assume the average player he or she meets isn't modding. Unless otherwise stated, where is the direct correlation that a person who mods is showing no respect and courtesy to the non-modding player?
Quote from Chiyuri;291542:
And like i said before.. there is no real "true" solo play in a game where almost everything you do can affect the market, the gameplay, the views of other people. Personally.. I see cheaters as jerks, it's far from erroneous of me to see cheaters in such a way. If they are going to mess up the game for their own little self or group, I find it selfish and annoying.
The effects vary, but that is up to the modding person. I, for one, don't meddle in the affairs of the player market unless I absolutely need to. If I was modding, my effects on the market is minimal, if any at all.
You seeing cheaters as jerks is a subjective statement. It does not constitute to any fact that every "cheater" is a jerk. You can ask another person who knows people who mods, and his or her opinion could be different. In fact, they could say the modders they know aren't jerks at all.
Everybody, cheaters or not, have the capacity to mess up the game in any way for their own little self or group. And it doesn't even require cheating at all.
Quote from Chiyuri;291542:
Of course, don't misunderstand me. I'm not agaisnt every mods.. it's possible some don't affect the server at all. I don't mind those and will not care if you use them since their will be no change in my gameplay or the gameplay of my friends. I wouldn't call someone a cheater for using something that cause no cheating anywhere. I don't really care about the rules nexon or dev-cat or whatnot. I care for Fairplay and respect of other people's right. Which is something unfair mods break...
Not every modder you see will affect you. If at all. You probably have seen many modders done something you weren't aware of but believe will affect you, and chances are, didn't affect you at all.
Fair play? I've been playing "fair" even with mods on. I'm actually very poor and limited in-game, because I've been playing "fair" even with mods on. There are non-modding people who surpassed me with little effort, yet I still toil to get to where they are with a harder payload. Mods don't even change the fact that there are far better ways to gain advantages in-game than modding, legal or not.

I would never mod, except maybe to make a few vids with Glas replacing random animals for lulz.

It might just be me but it seems that most of the issues a certain someone has with mods, goes back to people being jerks and in many of the situations stated the jerks would still be jerks if mods were involved or not.

I don't have mana shield.
So guess what, I use mods because I need them.

I use mods because it's stupid that I should lag because of a FONT.

Modding because of lag is like moving to Los Angeles...
So would living near Los Angeles make you a jerk?
-
Adelynn wrote on 2011-01-16 02:16
People in Los Angeles lag too.
Unless you can argue that lagging is the way the developers wanted us to play the game, I think people are justified in modding to make the game actually playable.

Old news is old.
The GMs were known to have their "Banhammers" a long time ago. I have a screenie from a pvp event with a gm holding one.

That hammer should be an event item. 8D

Methinks it's the ego blunt when you're using the special attack skill.

If it becomes one, can we play "Ban the closest person to you by hitting them"?

Calling people who mod jerks is subjective. It has exactly the same amount of truth to it as the statement that people who don't mod are jerks. I mean, why should I sit around and wait for you to stop lagging because you refuse to use mods that get rid of font lag? Am I supposed to not use campfires around you because they make you freeze up for a minute or longer if you accidentally open your character pane or skill pane? If I'm an archer, I'm certainly going to take issue with that kind of restriction.
A lot of the examples of how mods give advantages to players seems to be based around dungeons, and little design features that are found in dungeons to make them take longer. Interestingly enough, very few people do dungeons anymore (I didn't say no one, so don't bother saying "I still do dungeons!" as a counter). Most people do shadow missions. Shadow missions give better rewards, and don't have annoying little speedbumps like dead end hallways and mimics. Clearly very few people enjoy running down hallways only to find they wasted their time.
You can try to say the game was meant to be played one way or another. You're entitled to your opinion. But it is just that, an opinion. My opinion is the game was meant to be played for fun. And things in the game that are not fun should be avoided, not forced upon the players. All the mods you mention are things players have found that can be done to their client to make the game more fun. Honestly, things like font lag are just plain bad programming, and after all these -years- of it being a problem, you'd think Nexon NA would figure out how to use a different font that doesn't cause lag. But they don't. Many other mods remain to handle other irritating and unfun parts of the game... things that should be fixed by the developers of the game... but aren't.
Since Nexon/Devcat refuses to fix things for us, we mod to fix them ourselves. Nexon doesn't tell us how to play the game. They just give us the playground and put rides and toys in for us, and take our money. We tell Nexon what we want to play, and it is their job to give it to us to entertain us and make us happy, or we take our money to someone who does entertain us.
