:hi:
Afk's Note:
"Okay so this is going to be the last time I mention this and I hope any further arguments with misplaced claims can be corrected.
DK/Pally difference is minimal at the most. This is due to the fact that the base bonuses of transformation; pure numerical increase to stats, infinite stamina, super armor status, no counter-delay when hitting an enemy and increased range for the majority of attacks, during transformation is so huge and identical.
The following are the lists of difference from each skill tiers
First tier difference
There is a skill that increases 500 damage or armor per skill level depending on whether your a DK or Pally. This difference becomes less apparant due the the immense amount of base increase to stats that comes with transformation initially plus the fact that there is another stat increase passive skill, which is identical on both sides, that dwarfs these two. Now Pally is slightly at a better position since the same amount of armor is better that the equal amount of damage, but as said earlier, the base bonus of transformation outshines the difference easily
There is also the difference of the transformation extra attack. Drain[DK] and Holy missile[Pally].
Holly missiles do direct ranged damage and Drain does the same as well. Except that Holy missile does more direct damage and Drain increases the DK's damage slightly in compensation for [slightyly] weaker damage.
On paper it might seem to be a big difference but it's one the difference that peoples feel the least.
Second tier difference
No difference, one passive skill [quicker SP gain] that are identical
Third tier difference
No difference, two skills again identical. One that increases 500 points of base stats for each skill level. This skill is probally most responsible for making the first tier damage/defense passive skill difference insignificant.
The other skill is a passive that increases the number of targets Drain/Holy missile hits and is a pre-requisite for the extra-debuff skill.
Fourth tier difference
[enter witty 'yo dawg we heard you like extra-stuff so..' comment here]
Slow[DK]/Petrify[Pally]. As mentioned in my EP8 transformation status post, these skills were just considered to be trash and thus not worthwhile to note as a difference between DK and Pally.
These skills add a debuff to Drain/Holy missile. Both versions do not work on bosses but works on anything else [even bosses that apear as mid-bosses in other stages]. The difference is that slowed monsters can still move and attack VERY slowly where petrified monsters are completly frozen. The catch is that petrify also increases it's victim's defense by epic proportions. But holy missiles can inflict full damage on petrified oponents.
This is where Pally wins over DK again, and again by a very small margin. Plus this difference only applys to certain battles such as Inkells or Inkarah. For the rest both are still crap and yet not worthwhile to note as a actual difference.
Sacrifice. Which is not available yet. The skill descriptions reads that the caster sacrifices him/herself for a different effect. Pallys revive their party members, DKs do a big AoE damage. Threre is no way to measure which is better yet since there is no information on how this skill is activated or how much damage the AoE damage does and it's range nor if there is any limit to the number of party members Pally sacrifice can revive
Fifth tier difference
Identical. A passive skill that unlocks the next stage of transformation, again not available yet.
So I conclude this post with a comment that I have been repeating so many times.
If your the kind of person thats crazy about min-maxing up to the tenth decimal go pally. Otherwise pick the side that has the looks, decor, or mood that apeals you.
or
you can just go with the basic concept of the two sides where DK is supposed to be offensive and Pally is supposed to be defensive. A difference which is only apparant in the first tier damage/defense buff passive which is, as mentioned, insignificant"

yup. this is really old news in regards to the difference, but i'm glad its now put in a more organized fashion.
and despite all this, I'm sure people will still continue to say dk leeches damage. some things never change.

Since it's mostly the same between DK and Pally, based on the screenshots, I'm totally going Pally :blood:

Yeahhh... that site really sucks and is ran by idiots. They aren't even competent enough to convert from phpBB and their choice of skins is really terrible. And they're so unprofessional... They don't even sandbox!
It's not even hard to do the conversion, I did one myself just a couple weeks ago. le sigh.
All you have to do is do each of the conversions down the line in the conversion window and then you have to rebuild the forum.
Tools & Settings > Recount & Rebuild > Recount & Rebuild, they need to do just about all that. Someone should go tell them so they can fail less.

So, for the one actual difference(Petrify/slow), the pally one one helps a bit more, but only helps pallies (since only pallies have an attack that does full damage to effected targets), while the DK one is useful for the whole party in the party, but a bit less?
I am "crazy about min-maxing up to the tenth decimal", but I heard that to go pally, you have to save Galager, and I just don't think that's gonna happen.:kill:

Good post. I went Pally based on the information here.
I like the look better on an Evie than the DK transformation (not a fan of the really long hair on a chick, and the black stuff is ugly compared to pally armor!), so that was what tipped it in Pally's favor for me.
I have a feeling that the stun will have its uses too, especially in PVP. Yea you can't kill someone during it, but you can heal up while they can't, and you can interrupt them.
My only question is, how often do the magic missiles actually proc? It's really hard for me to tell if anything is actually happening besides my normal smashes. I'm wondering if it's even beneficial to invest in the missile talents right away.
Considering that for the tiers after first, SP regen and 2500 all stats are going to be my next 10 points, that means my missile is going to be single target for quite a while.
Because of that, I might as well get the 2500 HP first? 2500 Def doesn't seem like it will keep me alive nearly as much as 2500 HP will. What do you guys think about what to spend your points on in the first tier of Paladin?

Hi, just some quick questions - I read through the entire post and other information on Pally/DK besides, but I still have a few things left to clear up.
1. Does the DK's Drain skill actually drain HP? I've read that although that's what it's supposed to do, all it does is do a little more damage.
2. What's the proc rate on the Paladin Holy Missiles like?

Re:
1. Yes, it drains the hp of the enemies and the drained hp is turned into att. So, that means you are stronger when a boss has mob spawns than a boss without. With boss mob spawns you drain hp not only from the boss, but from the mobs aswell so your attk is increasing faster. With just the boss...you get the drift.
2.Blehhh i dunn have that info i could search it up, but i know your able to find that out yourself. Oh goodie, i decided to help you :\

le sigh, so its pretty much the same thing, and DK's drain only increases attacks by a little bit ? then i guess i better go for paladin for my dual sword lann, my damage is already quite high anyways XD
but what do you think ? should i go pally or DK, for a dual sword lann

its all on ur gameplay, the equipment ur intune with, ex. plate armor, heavy armor, latest swords etc.
Also the skills you have max or are always on max. Than decide whats in ur heart u wanna pprotect ppl, but would u do it and go out with a BANG a.k.a DK AoE or sacrifice urself to save others, if u want big aoe, go DK, if u wanna commit seppuku to rev others, go pally.........*falls asleep* -ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzZZZ-
