Quote from Mama;325527:
the effects on periods.. you mean like symptoms? it's a disease that can cause everything from severe menstrual bleeding, irregular bleeding or none at all. the heavy bleeding really exacerbates any anemic symptoms because your body already has trouble doing the job with the blood it has.
any other effects on the body encompass anything that can be a result of lack of proper blood oxygenation, like pale skin, dizziness, headaches, cold extremities of the body and general fatigue. I know I get some of these for having a rather low blood pressure.
I have anemia and yep this is exactly right. Usually when I'm on my period I get super dizzy because of it.

Wow :what: I'm more sympathetic toward girls on their time of the month now.

Maybe people will stop blaming everything on PMS and realize we're just upset because we're in painnnnn..

Guys have it hard in some ways, but not harder if you ask me. It really depends on a lot of factors.
Some women have very, very light periods with no pain whatsoever. Some other women however have periods so bad that it's enough to send them to the hospital.

I'm somewhere in between, sometimes lighter if I'm lucky.

That's pretty good, though.. mine have been bad enough to were I nearly pass out because of the pain. It's ridiculous.
But aye. Periods are no joke. I'm thankful birth control helps some. (especially with cysts, QQQ.)

amen, sister. my boyfriend's like, "let me know when you're about to get your period so i know when to avoid you" ↠WOW GEE THANKS?
my period has always been irregular; it usually comes every 1.5 months, and the first day is always, always, ALWAYS so painful that it forces me to be bedridden for a couple of hours until the pain subsides. i've gone to a doctor and gotten subscription medication for it, but it has never helped, so i just have to endure it. ;-; i find that curling in bed with a hot water bottle and taking a nap really helps. n_n;

I get really bad cramps anywhere from day 1-3. After the 3rd day, it's a smooth sailing.
When I get cramps, I usually put those heating pads on my stomach. I also take Ponstan every 4 hours, IT HELPS A SH*TLOAD.
And whatever you do, don't drink/eat anything cold. Drink a lot of hot/warm water when you're on your period.
Edit: Btw, does anyone get depressed/sad when they're about to get their periods? Like, get all depressed and whatnot on the day before, then the next day or 2 days after, you get you're period?

well, that's what they call pms. XD "a wide range of physical or emotional symptoms that typically occur about 5 to 11 days before a woman starts her monthly menstrual cycle" and usually ends when menstruation starts. i don't like to admit it, but i do get pms and get all moody and get irritated at the smallest comments. u_u;

I eat cold things all the time when I have mine. I blame it on my masochism, but honestly I just can't resist dairy products. THEY'RE SO F-CKING GOOD.
And notrly. The only emotional change I've ever had was b-tchy on a few occasions, but I seldom feel any emotional change. Which is ironic given I have a ton of chemical imbalances.
