I get really bad cramps anywhere from day 1-3. After the 3rd day, it's a smooth sailing.
When I get cramps, I usually put those heating pads on my stomach. I also take Ponstan every 4 hours, IT HELPS A SH*TLOAD.
And whatever you do, don't drink/eat anything cold. Drink a lot of hot/warm water when you're on your period.
Edit: Btw, does anyone get depressed/sad when they're about to get their periods? Like, get all depressed and whatnot on the day before, then the next day or 2 days after, you get you're period?
Oh my god, yes.
I'm already on antidepressants and when that time comes everyone acts like nuclear war is going on.

I'm not really skinny, just a bit above a regular weight (not overweight but considering how most other teens around here, but only by like 15lbs?)
I'm about to be 17, is that young? o_e (wants to feel young again)

That's kinda funny, actually, because I drink more water than any of my friends.
It's weird.
I've been taking multivitamins with iron in it, so that should help, but it doesn't seem to be changing anything. Same old same old.
Have you tried taking Slow-Fe?
Quote from kNocturn;327037:
If you are anemic, contact a doctor and then ask them what you should do.
Er, gynecologist.
All they'll tell you is to take an iron supplement.

I will never again wonder about periods and what they do to women
never
again
What did you think they did to us?

Well, Phunkie.
Saying that i'm 10x younger than you, I don't find that wrong.
When we were doing that theater mission with that person, I can feel different.
Not only does he act different from me, but it's just strange how he knows stuff, etc. etc.
Not saying that i'm not immature like he is.. but, i'm just less foolish around others. I mean, it's okay to be foolish, but sometimes, it gets repetitive and makes you wanna change.. like I did.
17 is NOT young.
Being 12 is young. (Grade Seven (7) ).
Long live my happy life.

it is young, hopefully your period will become more regular when you hit about 20 yrs old. That seems to be the norm for some reason, maybe because around then you stop growing.

I call 12 a little kid. I call 17 a kid. 20 is young. 30 is sorta young. At least I hope it still is. :(

Hm. I used to get really bad cramps on the day I got it, but my mood never changed. My mom always told me that it was hard for her to know when mine started because I never acted any different except that I got cramps xD; But now...my cramps isn't bad at all. It doesn't really hurt that much; it's just kinda there. When I had really bad cramps, it was so bad that I had to stay home from school sometimes. At one point, I went to see my doctor about it, but she said not to worry.

I feel bad for all you females. =(
Especially for the girls whose boyfriends avoid them on their period. I mean, when you're in pain, I think the last thing you would want is a source of comfort to be avoiding you...

This, I can't really explain it but I hate taking supplements. It makes me feel like I'm cheating on my body.:scare:
And don't sweat it wasbewwi, I'm not a whole lot older than you are. And I get treated fine. Maybe it also has something to do with the fact that I've kept my age and gender ambiguous until this thread. :P

thats very sweet of you, Zid.
and muyo, apparently any mood swings and menstrual pain is also somewhat mediated by how healthy your diet is (not to mention stress). Maybe that changed?
you need good omega-6 fats among others to ease pms, as well as body fat so your body can store progesterone. hormonal imbalances are the suck.

*pinches cheeks*
I call 12 a small child who needs to stay out of convos that do not involve him in any way.
Now go play with your foam football and squirt gun and leave the big kids alone, k?
@Mama it isn't a bad thing to me, but it does scare me considering I want children in the future
