if you plan to do ranged, it is recommended to get rank 1 refining. even if not doign ranged, it is recommended to get rank 1 refining. its one of those pain in the ass skills you just want to get out of the way, like windmill. of course the decision is entirely yours, you can build your character any way you like.
not r1. finish the fails of r2. stop there. Get more dex. finish the success. it'll cost too much to try and finish the success parts of r1 with low dex.

This guide needs some criticizing. 8D
This is the most effective, yet boring melee guide I've seen. A hard core free rebirther would spend several months just spamming Windmill, which pretty much takes the fun out of the game. If you decide to take a break, you'll be screwed out of running dungeons or SMs/TMs that require something other than Windmill spamming. This is all without mentioning that you'll be playing the game in solo mode, nothing different from a common console game.
Now, don't get me wrong, this guide is very effective. All I'm saying is that it only applies to pros who have already gone through all that and want an easier way to get to where they previously were. New people to the game, on the other hand, should probably stay away from this guide, since the fun one experiences in Mabinogi (at the beginning) comes from exploring new things and using many different forms of combat in order to defeat certain types of monsters (unlike most other games out there where damage = everything).
Let's also not forget that someone following this guide won't be able to sit, complete G13/G14, will have lots of trouble (if not near impossible) to finish Generation quests and get their transformations. Training Refining without Metallurgy is pretty much out of the question. This would imply that said person has a metallurgy alt, which would cross out most beginners.
In the end, beginners shouldn't follow this guide until they have at least experienced everything that Mabinogi has to offer. Asides from that, this is an excellent guide for most Mabinogi veterans out there.
:awesome:

this is for human melee before c3 or c4 even came out.

^ Darn, I could of sworn I saw Sword Mastery somewhere there. I guess the "not being able to complete G13/14" doesn't apply. The other points, on the other hand, remain standing.

yes, I do have to agree you on how this guide is for returning players more so than new players.

I'd just like to say I am sort of starting on an Elf Ranged guide because that is my second favored race-skillbuild combo, and I raised one from the ground. My favorite skillbuild is Human Melee, but you have done a better job here than I ever could with a guide. My guide won't be as good as yours, but I'll try!

if you havnt notice the guide about 2 years old already and as such, the build might be as favorable in today's standards with new combat system coming out soon, wm being buff[nerf], + other skills like assault, and mastery. there also that fact that there now new 'beginner quest' that reward ap, allow daily rb until lvl 100/100 etc etc etc
and if ur char old, acc has pets and such, u might just want to keep that character and get -cp items to rank wm.

222 stands for the amount of proficiency required for the upgrades, and dexterity is required for your Balance to not suck on weapons like Battle Swords that have terrible base Balance on their own.

Oh look, it's a time capsule from eons ago.
Rather than bumping this ancient thread, how about making a new thread for questions.

Soo, is leveling windmill really that necessary in the beginning? because i level combat mastery in the beginning, but i do have the skill caps to resset it.
So is it worth reseting my rank 7 combat mastery to keep pumping windmill or not?

Better to rank windmill first cause later it may be a bit harder cause your cp will be higher requiring you kill stronger enemies.. and windmill helps alot
