  Nexon goes by the motto.
  There is no problem if we just hide it and bury it...
  Took them Half a year + to admit their servers were leaked and hacked... and they only did it after Google announced they got hacked in China.
  NOT WHEN 1000's (yes im not kidding) of players got legitimately HACKED (In the LITERAL sense of the word) because of their FAULTY server security Complained to THEM.
  
  I was one of them when i locked an old account i had and it just went poof.

  Read that essay back when it was posted Trigger, and frankly it lost a lot of steam when Nexon stepped up their game soon thereafter. They're still not where we'd like them to be but your assessment is no longer accurate.
  
  As for the more general statements, the introduction of rare by design elements into the market en masse is not to be taken lightly. In this case there's not much of a threat in that department so the impact to us is minimal...hence why I think it's not worth making public or turning it into a larger problem than it is.
  
  However I disagree that we lose all legitimate reason to oppose it if it's not directly hurting us. I won't bother trying to change your minds on the matter since it's probably a lost cause; our differences probably arise from different perspectives rather than one of us having a faulty thought pattern. I will say that it makes it very difficult to maintain respect for people when they use these methods to advance themselves. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't show off like they had worked hard to accomplish something when in truth they were using underhanded methods like this.
  
  Reminds me of this guy I met in Dunbarton once around the time duels were released. A mutual friend introduced us and we got along pretty well. He was a fledgling mage at the time wearing average equips and lacking confidence in his abilities; it was rather cute actually. We had a little duel even though the only spell I knew was lightning bolt and it was pretty fun. Nowadays he's three times my total level at least and has capped all magic skills. He's repeatedly shown himself to take advantage of anything and everything...from one-charge fireball to all the rest of it. We don't really talk much anymore as he kind of alienated himself from us in the process of this so the only time I see him is when he's river glitching. It's obvious he's quite proud of himself...but he's not the same person he once was nor has he gained any respect from us in doing this. I doubt he cares though, so w/e makes him happy I guess. But I really wish it hadn't happened or at least I hadn't found out about it.

  Some mods for WoW can change gameplay quite a bit. There are mods that are borderline botting, like if all you're doing is healing then you don't even need to see which raid member is dying - the mod will just choose the most damaged ally and target them for you. Other mods will alert you to when an ally has a status ailment and only shows the proper skills when they're needed. Basically all you have to do is know where to stand and mash the buttons as they show up, a lot of the actual thinking is done for you. Similar things are done for other classes, it's not all just rearrange-this and change-the-look-of-that.
  
  Nevertheless, this kind of exploit shouldn't be released into the public. Anything gamebreaking shouldn't be released into the public, it doesn't make it any less wrong or less harmful just because more people can do it. If you say otherwise then you're just letting your greed take over for you.

  ^^Even that doesn't allow someone to do anything that a non-mod user could do. In a way it's still just an interface change.

  When you have a company like Nexon that has more or less proven itself unresponsive to all but large public outcries for something to be done, I don't think it'll get fixed any other way. Sure, it's not less wrong or less harmful, but it's more likely to be fixed. Unless you believe that Nexon will handle it properly if you submit tickets privately, or that it's better to just sweep it under the rug.

  We still don't have any proof as to whether or not the smuggled items can be abused by being smuggled back in. I say we keep the discussion open and prioritize the gathering of actual evidence and useful information.

  I've met many people when they were newbies who have surged past me in total level and skills because of the huge power gap created by weekly rebirths.
  
  Many of them have become jerks or scammers :|

  Sweeping it under the rug seems better to me. I don't see how a large group of abusers is better than a small group of abusers.
  
  Unless by spread you mean purely for the purpose of reverse engineering it so that we can properly inform Nexon. Then of course I'm all for it. It just seems that the more people know how something works, the faster they get out of hand and screw up gameplay.

  occurs first. Nexon [s]does[/s] would probably take action if it got leaked. Unfortunately, it really takes things getting out of hand for them to move. Sweeping it under the rug prevents the chaos but ensures that the small group of abusers gets free reign.

  If we isolate the names of the people doing it then it becomes much easier to find information on the mod, if it's available. If it was developed 'underground' then there's not much we can do about it besides submit video evidence of them dropping in without the pieces falling out and cause enough of an uproar that nexon does something. By which I mean enough of an uproar that prospective players can't ignore it.

  Lul, funny thing. I got my stiff beret for 150k. It could have been due to either poor pricing or Dorren's Request abusing. I'm keeping it all the same though .-.
  
  Well, since we don't have any solid evidence that the items are being abused, I think we should make a list of possible applications. There are two reason as to why we should make this list. 1) This list will aid us in identifying possible abusers, which will help prompt us to take video evidence. As we confirm the abuse or discover new ones, we'll mark it on the list. 2) The finished list will act as a prompt for Nexon to act (If they choose to).
  
  Possible abuses
  

  
  
  • Completion for higher difficulties Dorren's request missions using items gathered from lower difficulties. Large quantities of exp and rare-by-design items can be gathered from this form of abuse.
    
  • Gathering of "supply" items. These items can be amassed from chests at the beginning of certain missions to be used in large quantities. For instance, it is easy to gather large quantities of Barrier Spikes Crystals (Supply) from the chests in the "Rescue the Scout" mission for skill training purposes. Ice mines (Supply) can also be gathered using the same method

  I wonder if the secrets of the exploit are already leaked.
