I bet this was bound to show up eventually, and I'd thought I'll post it here cause, me and my friend was talking about it
she put up the argument that you won't find out if you're pregnant until the baby is already "alive" basically, and she also compared a Fetus to a Tadpole.. <_<. cause they're both "growing"
she also put up the argument that "just because it doesn't look like a person it's not alive?"
I asked her if she's killed a bug before in her life and she tells me "but that's not a person"
I personally believe it's ok before the baby is actually a baby (nervous system is formed, brains starts working/ it has a consciousness) assuming that's the case that'll be around the 3rd week or before, is what I'm talking about
(another question not totally related, but if you start throwing around insults, is it a debate anymore?)

Fetuses don't have a conscious thought. Its said their brain is still listening and growing, but they can't think for themselves at this point. There is that crossing line where a fetus is considered to have the ability to think, which at this point even places that allow abortion won't do it, its considered murder. Thats totally fair with me.
Aborting is much less worse than eating a chicken. Even a chicken feels and enjoys life more than a fetus. Way to kill it just to have some dinner.
Or an egg. Cuz thats technically aborting.
Pro choice yo. BUT- pro choice only if the situation drastically calls for it.
Example: No financial support to raise a child. Or maybe the woman was raped. etc.
People need to take responsibilities over their actions, so if we allow aborting commonly, it'll just get really annoyingly stupid.

I think it's a woman's decision, it's HER body.
The baby is insignificant compared to a woman who is capable of having a child.
Especially in cases of rape or incest, but even teen pregnancies or "accidents."
I've heard people say pregnancy is a risk/punishment to deter intercourse and enabling abortion would just encourage more teen sex.
Forcing a teenager without the mental (and usually financial) capacity to take care of a child for the rest of her life is a harsh punishment.
Sure the baby will live, but will it have a good life in the hands of someone who wanted to terminate it?

When she says "but that's not a person", ask her "so?"
Let's see why she values human life.

in the end I asked the question about throwing insults because she called me a dumbass at one point, and it seems she's blocked me

Woman's body. Woman's choice.... usually. In the case of married couples, the man should have some say, because the woman isn't the only one who's going to have to put out effort: Raising a child is a group project. It is the woman's body though, so if she says no that's it. If she says yes and the man says no, I don't see why he can't just get up and walk. What's worse? Abusive father or no father?
If you're religious, go ahead and say "no" to abortion... for you. You have no right to tell other people how to live their lives when all scientific evidence suggest the practices are harmless. Pseudo-science is so Middle Ages.

I'm fine with anything that the woman wants, if she wants to keep the baby or not that's her choice
The average woman in Russia alone has about 3~8 abortions, so to those who say all that trash about murder/respecting life: Who's going to take care of all of them?

I think it's no one's business but the pregnant woman's, and the husband/partner if there is one. No one else.
No government, religion, group or individual should have any say on the matter, with the exception of the doctor performing the abortion if he thinks doing so would be a health risk.
Therefore there shouldn't even be a debate on the subject.
It's just a bunch of nosy, inconsiderate people who want to get into the private business of people for some reason.

Ohhh boy.
Abortion is quite a touchy subject with me because of a dear friend of mine. I'm a Catholic so I was raised under the sanctity of life and all this liberal agenda and I followed it until a good friend of mine became pregnant at a young age of 17. Then I realized that there is a blurred line between what was acceptable or not. Her grades weren't amazing, her boyfriend was a douche about it, and she couldn't retreat to her family so she decided to go with the procedure. At that point, she told me, she was thinking about school and how hard it was going to be to raise a kid under the pressure of school not to mention that she was on probation. It is a choice but, the way she described it, it's the hardest choice for a girl to make. She's haunted by the idea of what could have been and has a hard time moving on from her douche of a boyfriend because of it. Every time she talks to me about it I'm driven to tears. It really did feel like I was lied to by my parents when I sat down thinking about it. Pregnancy can completely ruin one's life, but the mental trauma that can follow from an abortion is just as bad.
It's not a win/lose scenario as many people think; no matter what choice you take, it's lasting. You aren't a noble knight for choosing raising a kid over studying for school.

Pro abortion when it comes to rape.
Against abortion otherwise. Give birth and put it up for adoption, not that hard.

Tell that to the woman who will carry it inside her for 9 months, have morning sickness and other problems, have to take maternity leave, and then go into labour.

But there are already so many orphans that are still looking for a home.
Why should a woman be forced to have a child, just to put it in a bad environment.
The process of a pregnancy is not easy either, it's 9 months long.
If you're pregnant you can be shunned from jobs, school, and even family.
Is this all necessary for the child?

I'm of two minds on abortion, though I lean mostly to pro choice. My opinions are case by case however.
This is an actual example of two people I know. Both of them have been sleeping around since they were 16, and had have multiple abortions (One has had 6 (29), the other has had 8 (26), going on 9, because she's pregnant again). People like this I think shouldn't be getting abortions, and instead should be forcefully sterilized (I'm extremely biased at the moment, because the one who's getting ANOTHER abortion cried on the phone about how she's pregnant again for over a hour and a half). They don't try to use protection, and they show an utter lack of respect for the fetus they carry (It might not be completely alive, however just a few months more it will be? I just find it disgusting to have THAT many abortions).
On the other hand, I approve of EVERY other instance of an abortion, if there is nothing sleazy about the pregnancy itself.

Pro abortion means that you believe that you support abortion for pregnant woman, where they wouldn't have the choice.
That's why it's called pro choice.
Anyways, abortion is "morally wrong" but that does not mean it shouldn't be illegal.
Morals will only take you so far.
The cat doesn't why there's value in human lives if you're not going to value other living things.
About the people who get abortions because they sleep often with others, they need to learn sexual responsibility.
It's time consuming for doctors and there are even facilities dedicated to this.
