User Ignore upgraded

  And while I realize it isn't efficient or whatever as a mod like Okami said, this user has never officially done anything wrong. No one ever reports any posts.
  But believe me when I say the first time I see a report about this user, my ignore list will be modified very quickly~

  I strongly disagree because:
  
  1. It's impossible to get along with everybody, no matter who you are. On the vast world that is the Internet, we're bound to find people we absolutely cannot agree with or like on any level, even within communities we enjoy.
  2. There are some people nobody likes, but because good staff members must follow their own rules, they can't just ban a person because the majority doesn't like them.
  
  Mabination isn't the only community with a blacklist/ignore feature. Those exist for a reason, and it's not the fault of the communities.

  It is not just one person, it's a forum user. An user from a forum you're responsible of watching and regulating. It is something I just won't agree with.
  
  Regular users don't have much say in what a mod does or does not, but you made your statement public. I personally have nothing against you, but from now on I'll find it hard to respect you as a mod. I'm sorry, but I still believe that your decision was irresponsible and making your statement public was foolish. What is a mod when the users lose respect in them? How can we as users respect a mod that goes around ignoring forum members just because he or she doesn't like said users?
  
  You may say it's just one, but why should I trust you? How can I trust that you'll keep doing your moderating job efficiently if you ignore your own members?

  Well, if you don't respect me, then I guess any future dealings I may have with you probably won't go over well, in which case I suppose other staff members will have to deal with you.
  
  And if this helps at all, the person was on my ignore list months before I ever even became a mod. I also publicly stated that I had someone on my ignore list in the past.
  
  If you still think lowly of me, then there isn't anything I can do. This person is going to stay on my ignore list until they start causing problems or an admin or Osay says I shouldn't, because I've already gone ape**** crazy once and almost went on a killing spree because of one post this person made about a friend of mine.

  I'm not saying Skye does this, I'm just saying that if any moderator does they shouldn't be doing it. I wanted to block quite a few people when I was moderator, but I didn't because it would prevent me from doing my 'job' properly. If there is a problematic person, they need to just be dealt with rather than having a moderator just 'ignore' the person and let them screw up the forums anymore.
  
  Of course, that's not to say I don't want the feature in. It does have it's benefits, but only if used properly..

  Yeah, I agree. There's a few I would have ignored, but I won't because I have an obligation to this community and my duties as a mod.
  
  You just have to practice self restraint. It's a different mindset when you're a mod. You can't act like a normal user anymore.
  
  Anyways, we have a truckload of mods, so one mod ignoring someone shouldn't matter all that much in the greater scheme of things.
  
  Though, I don't particularly think mods should even have ignore lists... kinda defeats the purpose of being a mod. Well, whatever.

  Trolls are meant to be infracted and banned. Otherwise its up to you to personally be mature enough to disregard what others are saying, but I have always been a firm believer of "at least hear them out, all the way to the end".
  
  I don't think I have anyone on nation I'd like to ignore, but there have been a few posts I give facepalms at. Still, no matter how awful your posts are, I will always read it. The ability to remove your posts from my sight is similar to being completely silenced.

I can understand that you might end up getting into a huge fight between someone and you'll end up hating their guts, but that still doesn't mean you should never listen to a single word they're saying ever again.   Thats just me. I'm a very forgiving person though, and I am a firm believer of unity through familiarizing with others.

  2) Straight up rude
  
  Like, holy s***, is that so much to ask for? Honestly, I'll listen to anything someone has to say unless they give me a good reason not too. Sure, every member in the community doesn't have to be drinking mates with one another but there's no reason to be bad neighbor by being a d*** to everyone. What I'm trying to say is contribute to the community or face the consequences/ignore list.
  
  And what, would you rather have two people ignore each other or have them fight all the time? Hell no, that indirectly affects everyone and no good comes from letting them duke it out like that. Let people ignore each other if they can't find it in themselves to respect one another. End of story.

  Flaw with this argument is that if its unanimously agreeable that a person's post is both rude and noncontributive, it shouldn't exist at all, and therefore your goal should be to report it rather than to place it in ignore so that more and more of these posts can swamp the nation.
  
  It was my understanding that its because we can see it that we can stop it in its tracks.
  
  If "annoying members" are to be placed in ignore rather than taken care of properly as a community, then its really the same as letting them run rampant around the place. Thats like if Osayidan said "I'm going to put a video ad on every post of the forum, but don't worry because you can block them in the options if you really want".
  
  And your argument stems from the thought that the ignore function will actually not be abused. But whether you know it or not, you will end up using it where its not completely necessary, whether it be due to a misunderstanding or maybe even a mistake. I would think such a scenario happens more frequently than most people really believe.
  
  As comedic proof of this, I refer to you, every last episode of Anpanman. The poor thing is just trying to do what it can to help others, but he's always made out to be the "bad guy" because characters jump to conclusions.

  Like starpaw said, I use Ad-block when I see a sig/avatar I don't want to see again.
  Perfect for gifs and other creepy things.
