It's kind of sad when people lack reading comprehension skills. :( American kids rank pretty poorly in the world in math and science, dunno about reading.. maybe it could be an explanation for your post? I mean, I already explained to you that a recession could help straighten people (and the country as whole) out--it did have this effect already, but clearly not good enough... given by what happened. It's not "stupid Anti-American crap" unless you want to see it that way. Spend less time getting butthurt over petty stuff, and more time thinking. o/

Amusing, insult me when I never actually said anything bad about you. How low.
Either way, no matter what you think, calling Americans savages was completely uncalled for besides being completely unnecessary.
On the whole recession point, we came within a week of being kicked out of our house, actually. I worked with my dad (small signshop) in exessicely long 10 or more hour days and barley made it after borrowing money from other people, and getting the deposit for a large job. This was a few years ago. And now, we can't afford to sell, as we owe more on the house than its worth. We want to move but can't. So we still work crazy long days a lot at the shop; and as a bonus we haven't made enough money to give me a paycheck in six months. Yep, we need a few more recessions!

Also, your posts are just so facepalm worthy today I can't help it.

hah, Yoorah telling other people to think
but US universities have international recognition
    unlike Canadian universities.

The US universities that have international recognition have very little to do with the vast, vast majority of the American public. Especially with the demographic involved with the stuff we're talking about in this thread. There's a lot of other stuff that you've failed to think about properly, such as the fact that Canadian universities do in fact have international recognition and some other stuff, but that's not the point of this thread, so... ya.

Made me lol. Especially this part:
#4. It Turns Americans Into Sale-Crazed Lunatics
    What You Think:

Before going near a retail store on Black Friday, you should make sure your life insurance is paid up. If the news is any indication, you're going to be dealing with a bunch of feral materialists. Every year brings more tales of shoppers fighting or killing each other. It's as if the entire country is driven CRAZY by these great deals, but instead of slashing prices like the owner of Crazy Eddie's mattress emporium, they're taking it out on each other.

    But Actually:

It seems like people are more violent on Black Friday because the national media doesn't pay attention to violence at retail stores until it happens on Black Friday. Wesley Strellis walked into a Walmart a little after noon, picked up a metal bat from the sporting goods section, carried it to electronics and methodically destroyed 29 flat screen TVs. There's the case of the 55-year-old man who punched a 72-year-old store greeter in the face for asking to see his receipt, and the guy who walked into a Walmart and pissed on a case of steaks. And who can forget the man who lit three racks of clothes on fire in the men's department when Walmart wouldn't let him return an item. There are crazy people in this world who do crazy things. Often times at Walmart. CNN didn't report on any of those stories because why would they?

"Ho-hum, just another March gunfight at the mall."
    ...

That makes things even worse than I thought. :(

Educated people are perfectly capable of being stupid, hateful, and uncompassionate, assuming you are educated. Your love of and seeming belief in stereotypes don't help matters.

    Nice try:

    and

    Myth 4 of http://econ.economicshelp.org/2008/02/can-recession-really-be-good-thing.html

Your comments are similar in nature to the very people you condemn. Of course I would speak out against them.

Never said they weren't. I was merely describing the people you posted. Fail reasoning on your part!

The article you linked to does make a good point for someone who doesn't understand anything about economics, but it's merely presenting the opposite side. Which is fine, if it weren't so oversimplified and if it showed real examples of how their ideas work in the real world and in the long-term. The fact of the matter is that sometimes you need a jolt to overcome obstacles, the recession being one, with real-world examples such as the housing bubble, the US government taking a look at debt reduction and reforms seriously, etc.

    Quote from Juno;671758:
The reason this is in the news is because it's so incredibly uncommon.

At first I thought so as well, except it turns out it's not that uncommon, even on this one day. According to that Cracked article, it happens throughout the year as well. D8
