Third episode up now. A perfect example of how one stupid mistake can fuck your entire party over.
The thing that surprised me the most was Argo's brief appearance. I'm confused as to why they would show her in this episode and not the previous one, where she's the most involved as far as plot. Regardless, I they did a good job with this one in my opinion. There wasn't much to really cover in this side story compared to last episode.
Also lol'd at Klein's guild. I should have known his friends would match him in his samurai armor.
Technicly in the novel, they voted 3 against 2 to open the chest. In the anime they had one of the guy rush up to the chest right away and kirito trying to stop him.

Regardless it was still a mistake, with the people who voted against being obvious as the same people who didn't rush for the chest in the anime.

Yea pretty much. But in the Novel, it caused himself one more reason to be angry.
He complained that he should have used his level to reverse the vote and make them leave but he was scared they would hate him for been a beater so he kept quiet and let them open the chest without a word.

Just caught up-- for some reason I figured that they were going to follow volume 1 exactly and go straight for the huge time skip, so seeing them do the side stories in between is a nice surprise. Can't help but feel that they're rushed though.

I think episode three was pretty well done as well, nowhere near as rushed as Aira was in ep 2 (although I did like ep2 as well, wasn't that badly done for a single episode)
And yay even though she was left out of the last episode, we see ARGO in this one ! :skip:
Light novel readers got one giant time skip. Then afterwards we had side stories that took place during random times during that time skip.
Going in the order the anime goes in though, can seem a little confusing for anime only viewers. It ends up being lots of smaller time skips, happening quite often. Which could make the anime feel more rushed then it really is.

My friend told me to watch this so I read and watched whatever was out so far.
Honestly I think they really butchered the anime. Stories are basically the same, but time management seemed a little screwed up. Personally I like the manga version better, one giant leap is just a lot easier to follow.

I wonder.. based on the floor they reached.. the argument inbetwen Asuna and Kirito should be very soon. Hopefulyl the next episode iwll be about that.

Nah, not likely it'll be that. If anything...
It'll be Kirito and Scilica's magical adventure to save her pet dragon. After all, the next episode shares the same name as that chapter, and the only material they've adapted from the web content is Aria, with them axing a majority of what was important about it.
I can't argue against the anime feeling rushed for people who haven't read the LNs, although they have good reason for it in my opinion. If they just skipped to the beginning of volume one and at the moment the reached the end of volume one, decided to start volume two and ensue massive flash backs, then everyone would be complaining about it. The way they're doing it makes it so that they don't have to bombard the series with flashbacks as well as show the development of the game in it's earlier moments compared to volume 1's rushed finish of the game. Not only that, but people would also be complaining about how quickly the story SAO story would have ended.
That aside, the pacing will be fixed for the anime viewers by the time they hit either the start of the first novel, or the start of the third novel. The pacing is only being rushed because of their need to quickly go through the volume 2 side stories.
Oh yeah, try to keep spoilers in spoiler tags. I'm assuming there's people who watch the anime but haven't read the light novels since they want to enjoy the anime.

Fourth episode is up. I'd say it was a pretty good ep, nothing too special, but I enjoyed it. The episode title for next episode points towards them animating Murder Case in the Area. This ought to be good.

Yeah episode four was pretty well done, a lot of tentacles though xD. Now for the next part I heard some say that the Murder Case in the Area is going to be two episodes long, and imo it really needs it. I know they fit Aria into a single episode but I don't see how they could pull that off with this one.

Hitaki wrote on 2012-07-29 02:52
Well I could see it happening in two episodes. Rather, for something as big as this, they really need to do two episodes otherwise they'll really butcher this next ep. Aria was enough of a disappointment, so I'm hoping they don't make the same mistake here.

I'm actually curious as to why they deleted chapter 16.5 from Bakatsuki. Forum is down for me so I couldn't read it. I mean I could guess why, but it seems rather silly.

Oh good I've been looking forward to the fourth episode.
I can honestly say that I love the anime so far--granted I have yet to read the manga, but I was still attached from episode 1. I love the art style and even though it does seem a bit rushed it's still very entertaining.
I find it hard to understand what's going on at some points. Like when the Black Cats guild all died it just skipped ahead to him sitting on a bench some odd months later. I was like "Okay...what happened...?" But I'm looking forward to watching episode 4.

I checked when the forums were up a few days back, apparently it's because there's a bunch of other chapters like that, with KiritoXSinon, KiritoXLyfa, KiritoXSilica, and other girls in the series.
Also it was discovered that 16.5 wasn't actually written by Kawahara.
