NEW UPPDATE STUFF! <--- Big red font means important! It also makes it look like I'm professional!
Okay!! So it's decided! For our first campaign we'll try a couple of the Forgotten Realms Modules!
Incase you don't know what that is I'll breifly explain!
You see the makers of D&D, Wizards of the Coast (WotC) did not only make the rules for the game but also
their own little adventure books for people to use! It's a pre-made campaign that you read from a book (That you purchase... This is can turn out more expencive than most consoles w/games...) that take you through a series of quests in the Forgotten Realms world.
However... Some people like alot of freedom so I was thinking, if I'm even going to DM, have it like a typical open world rpg game (which it totally is)
where we are in whatever country/town/plane Forgotten Realm is and mostly have you explore and do what you want, using the modules/campagin books as quests for you to do instead of making the entire game around a single campaign/module thingymajig.
I'll need some reading up on the Forgotten Realms and I suggest everyone else who is joining too!
Only thing I know about Forgotten Realms is the little I've played of NWN and NWN2 which was pretty cool but I didn't have anyone else to play them with... Foreveralone.jpg
Also I need more character sheets! If you're having trouble with them just ask, there shouldn't really be any restrictions and if there are you can just re-do it, promise! The second time you make a character it goes by much faster.
Regarding the map tools
I've yet to look through them closely enough but I'll side with Nithiel and vote for the MapTool one.
Other than that I don't know what to say on the subject ;o
Just lettin' you know ;o

I've played all the games set in the forgotten realms, read most of the books, studied it deeply and played multiple games of DnD in the forgotten realms, so I can help you out there if the need arises.

I think I read a book in the forgotten realms setting once. There were tons of spiders...like literal tons.
I kind of did an about face character wise so I'm re-designing right now...but I'll get the sheet in sooner or later :v

You can count my vote for Maptools. Of course, I was the one who suggested it - so of course I would agree.
I'll send in my revised character sheet to you very soon. If anyone is wondering, I'm making a Human Cleric. I'm going for the Shield/Healing route.
Therefore, I am going to be focusing on the Wisdom stat. Don't expect me to melee anything. [S]LOL 8 STR[/S]
It's going to be a more support role than anything, although with a planned 17 AC - I'm not that squishy.

Actually, seeing as this topic was to judge opinion, I think a new topic should be started for the actual game now that we know enough people are interested, where we can put all the rules, setting, players, times, etc. into the first post to keep it all organized.

A good idea.
Also, I'm [S]tentatively[/S] officially done.

Working on my character right now. For your ability scores, is the number to your left your base value, or is it included with both the mod/+1/2 your level thing?

The left most numbers are your base ability scores. The middle column for that section is for the modifier that your ability scores give, and the right most column is your modifier + 1/2 level. This way, you have your numerical number (base), the modifier for the skills that only add extra damage/etc based on the modifier, and the modifier + 1/2 for ability checks, all there for you to easily access...
Unless I'm misunderstanding your question.

Yeah, you answered it correctly. I just flipped to the Character sheet page in the Hand-book so I don't think I'll need any further assistance except for this last question: do you round up or down for values? For like, the 1/2 Level stuff and when you need to split a number like 25 into halves.

You always round down. So level 1 characters get +0 for the level bonus D:
When you hit level 2, you get +1; level 3 gets only +1
And so on.

Down. You always round down, unless in the extremely rare case that it asks you to round up.

Suspected as much. Creators of D&D don't want us getting miniscule bonuses at the start. D:

Right now, I'm just about done with my (hopefully) main character [s]chances are, I'll probably make a different character depending on the needs of the party, example being making my character a Rogue if we don't have a character that can disarm traps properly[/s], though the only thing I'm not sure on is equipment. In 3.5e, there was a section specifically for the equipment that the character is wearing, as well as a different section for the magical equipment that it was wearing. On 4e's character sheet, there's a section for magic items, and then a section for other equipment. With the spreadsheet that I'm using for my character, when I look at other equipment, the items that it lists as being available look like it's the odds and ends, like adventurer's kits and thief tools and the such, so I'm guessing that's not used for the basic weapon and armor that we'll probably be starting out with.
So is the magic items section intended for our attire, or am I missing something?

I apologize in advance for not knowing anything about how to answer your question, though I did notice that if one were to buy a traveler's starter kit or w/e, they'd have no space to record it all.
Perhaps it wasn't meant to be one per line?

Under the magic items section. It's to the right of the Powers Index.
On every line there's a little subheading that says "Weapon" "Armor" "feet" etc.
I believe it's only for magically enchanted/enhanced items.
For normal equipment, I listed it under
"Other equipment" along with my miscellaneous items.
EDIT:
I just put multiple things on the same line. The first line was my armor and weapon.
The rest was the other adventurer's stuff.
