Who wants a link to a cool program you can download that takes you step by step through making your character, choosing your stats and skills, and buying your starting equipment then has an option to display it as a character sheet and to save it so you can edit it as you advance? If you want such a program, you should message me. :O

Doesn't the handbook do that?
Though, I suppose...it probably has more helpful tips?

It has everything you need to make a character all in one program without having to flip back and forth. It lists every playable race, their benefits, every class, their benefits, every power/feat you can take, what they do, every item you can buy, what they do, etc. It basically just makes everything a lot simpler, plus after you finish selecting all your stuff it calculates the bonuses and makes a character sheet for you. :O

I've got a spreadsheet that I downloaded that does that pretty much, and after seeing that there are different tabs to that spreadsheet, I found that all of your attire equipment (weapon, armor, shield, etc.) do belong under the magic items section. Don't know why WotC couldn't just call that section "Primary Equipment", and have a spot next to each subsection that allows you to list the item's magic attribute, or whatever you want to call it. Would be so much less confusing than saying "Magic Items" and "Other Equipment", and expect players new to 4e to know what to do with everything.

That's why i like this. It puts everything in the right place for you. You don't have to worry about messing it up. xD

Really? Darn. Now that I look at it, it makes so much sense! D:
I would change it, but I already turned in my character sheet lol.
I'm interested in that character simulator though.

I downloaded the basic, clean spreadsheet from
here, then started filling out my character (went ahead and did a mix between rolled and customized for my roll, since I find the standard array to be boring, rolled to get the basic numbers down, then fiddled with what extra points I had for each rolls until I got them to stats that I like. Only missing 2 points compared to if I just went out and did the customized method only).
Played around with my character, until I got to the point of where to put equipment, and then I noticed that there's more to that spreadsheet file than just the character sheet.

Such little space for Character Background/Mannerisms/Appearance... :l Where do our characters actually meet up anyways? In a tavern? [S]Also, do we apply items we've received from character backgrounds as part of the money you spend on adventuring items?[/S] Found the answer.

That can vary from DM to DM. Maybe you all meet in a tavern and overhear something and you all decide to go check it out together, maybe you are all new members of an adventuring company that got stuck together in a party to get sent out on missions, maybe you're all childhood friends living out your dreams of adventure. Lol. :p

For that, we leave up to the DM, with some tweaks here or there depending on character background stories. For example, my character and your character could be best friends growing up, and did everything together. One day, we see a poster looking for adventurers, and anyone seeking fame, glory, yadda yadda to go see the king of Generic Fantasy Kingdom, where we bump into the rest of the party. The DM determined that the party joins together at the castle, but individual characters could have different reasons for showing up to the castle in the first place. That's a good bit of the fun of D&D.

Oh okay, so it's more like an adaptable thing for Character Back-ground.

Also, I need to know if anyone is going to be a Wizard or not. I seriously want someone to cast Magic Missile at the darkness. I will seriously love them forever if they make that joke.

Ok, so I'm going to tally up the people who are still here. I know we have 14 votes, but experience tells me that the actual number will be significantly lower...
Present:
Arsik
Episkey
Juno
Mathii (DM)
Nithiel
Shanghai
Possibly:
Meikeru
Northwind
truefire
Haven't heard from lately but expressed interest:
Subete
Lyre
KingofRunes
Definitely not:
Mentosftw
So, based on who posted in this thread, we have 11 people with any chance of playing, not including the DM. If memory serves, 5 is the suggested number? If we make two groups, and thus two DMs, we'd be golden.

I'm also going to use this experience as an experiment. If this goes smoothly, then I'll probably talk to Chise to see if we can get a general Role-Playing section for the forums, so that we can have a place to store character sheets for outside games like this, as well as regular forum roleplaying. If it doesn't go too well, oh well, hopefully it would have been fun.
