...when people on the internet who you don't know too well use your real name?
For me, it does. I'm not exactly sure why, but it just rubs me the wrong way. And lately I've noticed people tending to use my real name just out of the blue. Maybe it's my fault, since there are people who do use my real name around here and I don't say anything to them since I don't mind. Then again, there are people who still use my forum name who I wouldn't mind them using my real name. XD

It does me, yes. Greatly so. It makes me even more angry when people that know it use it in public which starts the bull**** to begin with.

Never had that problem. The problem I do have is my real life friends commenting on my screen name in public.

^ You're one of the people who can use my name and it doesn't bother me. It's just random people who I like never talk to who use it.

I guess that'd be an issue too. Though I've never had that problem.

yes, I see that as a personal thing
nobody knows me well around the forums though and I don't converse much elsewhere so I don't have to worry about this :D
however when I used to play MS it'd bother me. we'd introduce ourselves and I didn't want to decline saying my name, but I didn't like being called by my name by a stranger

Not really. I don't think I really have a right to complain though.
It actually bothered me so much to use a screenname that I dropped it.

Real name is Chiyuri so... I'm kind of used to people using my real name for obvious reasons.

Normally, it doesn't bother me when people call me by my real name (hell, I had my username as my real name for a month or two here), but most don't, either through my imposing [s]blue[/s] invisible name, knowing way too many people with the name of Zac/Zach/Zack/Zak and just stick with my more known username to avoid confusion, or generally just not giving a **** to learn my real name, let alone use it.
In fact, if anything, I was more bothered when people, or rather a person, used my username instead of my actual name, for nearly two and a half years, one and a half of those years where we were a couple, though I can say that I didn't really know her that well despite the two year relationship and 3 year friendship. So just because of that one bit, that's why I voted for sometimes, though it's actually the opposite of the question asked, and that it bothers me when people don't call me by my real name when the even become slightly acquainted with me.

You always make me sad. :(
I seem to recall people called you some name that started with a J, I think, because they thought that was your name...?

Nobody knows my real name. As far as the world is concerned my name is Guy.

Totally a preference I suppose.
I don't think it makes any difference. Why would it? Thats just how I see it though.

i've never had this problem, really. my name is really obscure, so i'd probably prefer it not be brought up anyway, if i can help it.
maybe if i had a name that was more condusive to being tossed around, i'd feel differently.

I tend to use nicknames/real names only when I find it easier to type out or they insist on it. Not so much because I know them well.
As for my personal opinion, I don't really care if people use my real name or give me a nickname, though it is a tad odd if it's coming from someone I've never even crossed direct paths with before. (I've ran into a few people that I have never met and seen on the Forums maybe.. once? And they kept calling me "Aug" and "Auggy", which was really quite weird.)
But for the most part? Nah.
