  Fate is currently the main Villain. He's on a completely huge different level from Negi at the moment and right now Negi's attempting to become stronger in hopes of defeating him like his father Nagi (long ago Nagi fought a similar battle under similar circumstances that he was to fight some dude with God-like powers and somehow won).

  Fate was introduced when they went on the class trip (When Nodoka, Setsuna, and Konoka formed a Pactio with him and when Kotarou was introduced). He had a hand in helping that Japanese Mage use Konoka to summon a huge demon. Eva was able to hold him off and he decided to back down and fight Negi when he became stronger.

  Fate was screwing around with the mercenary mages that tried to summon this godly beast to take control of Japan's magic... thingy... don't really remember how that went. So he did appear once very early in the series. He was literally just screwing around, and with his guard down took a punch from Negi before he got his ass kicked by Evangeline at her full power.

  I just read the last chapter, i vote that negi is going to fail this one, i mean he cant keep getting lucky with these internal battles or whatever forever (first the one for the skill, then the battle to keep control of the skill?) And then something is going to expload, i can see it now.

  Watched 'Mahou Sensei Negima!' on demand. Was... bleh.
  Watched entire SHAFT's version of 'Negima!?' in 1 day. Was very very entertained.... Chupacabra's are quite something... Couldn't find all the OVA's.
  
  Anyways, I'll probably start reading the manga soon.
