Sent in a report on a thread about a day ago, have not received a response, nor has any action been taken.
Since there isn't a rule against blog-esque posts, no action was taken specifically. There is, however, an ongoing discussion about what we're going to do about such posts and whether they will ultimately be allowed to exist.

it's pretty much just spam and should be moved to BR
there's no discussion content in there whatsoever. either way, i'd appreciate being notified if a report was received but no action was taken for whatever reason.

It still falls into mabinogi talk as per the section is described, though the implied discussion topic -is- fairly flat. Expect a rule preventing this in the future but it's premature to act on such a borderline case atm.
That said, we'll be notifying people for reports if that's what they want.

I think most of the users on this forum just need to grow up.
I've read some posts from time to time here and I facepalm still. Jokes are funny and all, but sometimes people take them too far and then begin a blame-game to who's right or wrong.
I haven't seen it, but mods should never play favorites. Also, users should just stop acting all silly and just PM a moderator or admin whenever they feel there's a problem. A lot of folks here like to solve problems on their own, which often causes just more problems.
And last, but not least, be lighthearted. Everybody. You're not here to moderate, you're not here to be moderated. You're here to have fun. One of the main problems about TA is that she followed every rule to the letter. It was pretty ridiculous.

1) they don't do that
2) how do you know?
and
3) are you sure it needed something done about it?
Just because you think it's rule breaking doesn't mean it is and just because you don't see anything being done about it, doesn't mean it isn't.

this is exactly the problem, no?
also, I know because nothing has been done about it???
I mean, sure if the person received a warning or infraction, I wouldn't know, but from what I reported, I can't see why the thread would be left there if they did. the only logical conclusion would be that nothing was done.
I've already said - if you haven't bothered to read, that is - that if the report was rejected or nothing was done about it for whatever reason, i should at least be notified. I mean, even dA has the capability to do this and the scale of that site is thousands, if not millions of times larger; I've at least gotten a response or action for every report that was sent in regardless of whether it was processed or not.

I honestly was surprised when I became a mod and found out we didn't have to respond to the reporter to let them know if something has been done... I still did it most of the time anyway if it was something that couldn't be seen by the reporter or if no action was taken.. I'm sure I didn't do it sometimes though. :(

Nation isn't the only forum like this, though. The other forum I used to staff didn't entail telling people that reported an issue what happened to their report.
I've seen dA's system and I actually think it would be a neat idea. I wonder if the new forum could do something like that...

No, the problem is that you guys assume things when you shouldn't.
They don't have to do it, nor should they be pressured to.

For my minecraft server, the moderators must write up a report as to why they banned or punished someone, and this report is made public.
I always felt that it helped show the players what exactly our interpretation of the rules were, and on top of that, it helps the players who reported them show that they've helped make the community better - by weeding out bad players and helping enforce the rules.
Now...I know this is a bit different, since this is just a forum. But still, I think something like that wouldn't be bad at all.

A nice idea, but it doesn't transfer well across mediums.
Most people are fully aware of the rules they're breaking, and few members desire to read a report every time someone gets an infraction. If writing said reports would decrease the number of bans we hand out (which is like, 2perm/year) then I'd be all for it. Precedent suggests that it would not.
Even so, I'll keep that in mind. If it could be effectively applied somehow, it would be a huge boon.

Mabination:
>Asks for your opinion
>Debates your opinion as a fact
Really, opinions shouldn't be dismissed just because you think it's not the case. That's not the way to run a feedback topic.

It'd be pointless for people to make suggestions, then have us discuss them behind closed doors and ultimately not implement them. If there's something that works, we'll do it (ie: responding to reports w/PMs). If it doesn't work, we'll say why we're not doing it. If it could work, the best idea is to discuss ways to refine the suggestion.
Opinions are a good place to start, but if we want to improve the site we'll have to get to the truth behind them.

We're not disregarding opinions. We're discussing how things currently work, why certain suggestions may work, and why certain suggestions may not work.
