how exactly does xbox live and mabi have anything to do with each other?

1. Modding requires the user to manipulate the game itself. Instead of earning awesome looking gear, they can just mod their character and skip the effort. Apply it to whatever mod the player chooses. It's a matter of principle. I view it as the difference between stealing and earning. It's not something that can be argued.
2. Xbox LIVE, unlike PC gaming, has each player face off against each other with the exact same setup. You can't mod your interface or use brand-name professional gear, etc. The only applicable factor is skill in server-based situations. Modding, on Xbox LIVE would refer to someone using a modded contoller with a semi-automatic weapon in a FPS. The player would have a distinct advantage and could kill players with more skill because they cheat. Thus throwing off the concept of equal footing.
3. The perfect example of modders in Mabinogi is the guild Martyr. A generally hated bunch of folks who go beyond simple mods. I don't want to have to justify how I'm different than them.
4. I'm limited to an iPod ATM, please don't give me a lot to respond to.

The point of visual mods such as zoom in and out is to make the interface better than what the developers intended.
btw Halfslashed abd Byte pretty much summed this thread.
PE is pure bad

If it weren't for font mod I would not be playing mabi since ages ago, probably would have quit before G2.

I like mods. They make my Mabinogi experience funner.
Even if the game was glitch and error-free, I think I'd still use mods.

Well I feel that their are really 3 main kind of mods:
- Interface - Text, Zoom, Map, Cutscene Cutter, CP,Read Signs from far away, etc
- Graphic - It changes the appearance of equips on YOUR computer only, no one else can see it
- Hacks - Pack Editing, Gold Duping, God Shot, 1 Charge Fireball etc (I know not all of these are strictly 'hacks' but game breaking nonetheless)
All but the former I have no problem with.
Originally I was against all kinds of mods, but I guess I weakened after trying them. Its hard to go back to 'legit' exploration when you can save so much more time and effort
Edit:
I should add that I feel its a bit of an exaggeration to call people using graphic mods "cheaters" in a anyway. The fact that they change the appearance of their clothes does not mean they can suddenly skip the "earning" phase. Its like saying that owning a poster of a Ferari is cheating, because other people went out and bought a real one. Sure on the persons computer they see their pretty character, but no one else can. Thus, they dont get the sense of satisfaction nor the 'bragging rights' usually associated with obtaining items. Oh, and I personally dont use Graphic Mods.

Well, it depends.
If it is a mod that reduces lagg and benefits people in good way then, I think the mods can't be so bad D:
Game-Breaking Mods, Botting(Brown Fox Killers) HELL YA. BAD MODS. bunch of noobs.

What are you thoughts on the mods in Mabinogi?
To me? I think its kinda dumb. I see it as a way of cheating. Whatever happened to earning something anymore? Now its like to god damn easy to get whatever you want.
The whole fun of it is anticipating how much you want something then feeling that certain glee and happiness when you finally do get it. I personally don't use mods for that reason, also I can see it as a way for Nexon to be all Nexon-ey and try to warn or ban people for using the mods.
However I think when it comes to graphical mods like zoom are text are different and okay.
Anyways what are your thoughts?
Some people need mods to play the game and or help with frame rate lag, back on my old comp it was hell without them. also most"game breaking mods" are dead or kept to their creators after the whole lol dr incedent

This is EXACTLY how I feel. I don't use graphical mods either. I've just gotten so used to the new font and less lag. I mean, I know my computer would run the game fine without the mods, it just feels like everything is less cluttered with them. Plus, the Cor map was very useful before I discovered rafting..

Back in August 2009 I was modless and played for about 3 months. I had not started weekly rebirthing and was getting tired of the game. My computer and internet connection was not able to handle the game as was and I was ready to quit. Then my guildmaster helped me find a modding site and I read Halfs Tutorials on modding out the lag. I would have quit this game at level 300 and nexon would not have made a "ton" of money off me. You won't see me with many of the incredible mods since I am only passively learning the tools. That's my 2 cents.

If the mods fix the game, then good. But I don't like it when they takeaway gameplay. When ppl can see which chests are mimics, and can automatically attack them... yea you kill faster, but it ruins a little part of the game. Also CP is stupid. Many ppl use it as a way to judge ppl's "pro ness," it gets annoying lol.

I like mods but I'm biased since I use them.
But i guess I can kinda explain...
Interface mods like text change, CP showing, and... zooming and... oh right, being able to talk to your ego without equipping it (really convenient for wand egos).
Visual mods like... changing your clothes... oh and making trees smaller or changing them into flowers or something. (though one i wish was the ability to change clouds from raincasting bleh the lag xD anyways)
though ones i'm not sure about... not sure if it's a mod or a macro (think it's macro) things that auto-do things. Don't care so much about fossil macros since... srsly fossils are BS hard to do well.
but cooking... again i'm biased since i'm a cook xD

Really people need to look at the differences between the good and the bad. They aren't all the same thing, it's like stereotyping.

The line is very very fine between mods
Graphic mods, font mods that reduce lag they are fine since they benefit only the user and sometimes other people, you lag less it helps your party
Things like sog,pe is where people begin to put mods as evil
Its a the nature that makes it hard to define
Some people like me go without mods at all and dont care
Some people will only use fair mods, zoom, font etc they arent really cheating just helping somehow
Then theres the infamous pe and such
