Magic is severely limited right now and only has a few select uses when compared to other skill sets. Most mobs in a room are dead before a mage has time to deal damage and when they do deal damage, it doesn't fully kill them, especially in elite and lord missions.
Instant Cast, Meteor Storm and Mobile Casting will put magic back on the map as a major powerhouse.

Nonono, i'm aware and i'm glad that magic is getting revamped.
Just...Do you see how much damage that is? And that's before reforges.
What the fuck.

its not all about damage
there is no info about cast speed, mana cost, the time after actually casting the spell so it actually does damage, the area it hits, and possibly cooldown
shockwave having cooldown shows that magic could have cooldown too
i'm sure devcat will keep this very high damage, but put some heavy restrictions to be able to obtain it
at least i hope, else magic master race

In all seriousness though, I figured it'd be pretty obvious it has some srsbsns cost or downsides. Nexon isn't
that stupid. [S]Also, they enjoy screwing over mages in basically all their games too much to be that nice to them.[/S]

Am I the only one that is slightly disapointed that their solution to magic is just adding in a more OP magic spell that everything else and adding in 2 more skills? It kinda insane to me that they are raising the total AP cost of the highest AP costing skill set. Not to mention if meteor storm is like hail storm it'll be 400 AP, and the passives will most like be 150-200. So magic is not a 5k+ AP skillset for just the tab and then other skills if you want to cap your int.
Fighter is still less AP to cap the tab (A bit more if you want to cap will), Warrior and ranger fall less than magic with capping stats, alchemy tab falls in the 4k+ AP range. Magic just become AP king by a LONG SHOT!
Honestly I think Magic need AP adjustments to the old skills and people need to get their AP back for them.
Although depending on meteor storms limitations and instant cast, it seems metagame will be dominated by fireball with hermit staff and meteor storm.

Three other skills, assuming Chain Casting is actually a thing.
I don't honestly care much. I suppose it would be nice to redistribute the AP costs of skills, since the skillset is fairly inaccessible to newbies.
Also, to be fair, the "2 more skills" affect all spells, and contribute to much better DPS. Also, they changed stat formulas around. Adding skills wasn't all they did.

Stat formula's make Ice spears, Firebolt, and Hailstorm weaker not stronger. And that's the problem they added 2 skills the majorly affect magic, any new player wouldn't struggle to get magic to the point of actually using it.
Honestly I accept this change but as a magician I do not like what they have done with it. They are hurting players that want to get into magic with instant cast and mobile cast since they now need more ap to do be useful. These skills and damage changes make ice spear and thunder almost useless end game compared to spammed fireball (Under the assumption that instant cast works the way we assume it does) and this meteor storm.
Needless to say, I'll hold my tongue on any more rigorous complaining until I can try it myself.

Even so, with 'Final Cast' and run casting, magic damage still isn't enough. Not unless they fix the new formula so stacked charged count.
