I was more than comfortable with site leadership's decision to unsticky my spirit weapon thread despite numerous contributions from the community (including over 100 personal changes and revisions) because it had become clear to me that the topic which it covered was no longer important to the community.
This was proven to me when it fell off the first page and into the abyss. I gave it a parting salute and marched on.
They can always unlock your thread. If your joke is really that important, i'm sure people won't let it fall of the first page. I mean, all of these other threads which the community loves have to fight for their survival now.
Quote from Gensokyou;1153753:
It doesn't matter. If you leave that thread - which is quite frankly uninformative, dead, and not particularly humorous - stickied, then why would you unsticky threads that are active, promote activity AND curb spam at the same time, and ARE arguably informative.
It's not a personal attack on you, considering that I've seen you like twice in my stay here.
So are you guys really ignoring how he said he was joking or...?

I feel this to be inaccurate to me due to the fact that the thread wasn't about a discussion relating to the highest level spirit weapons, it was informational. Therefore there weren't posts often enough to bump it to the top regularly. You know how long it takes for spirit weapons to level up, and so the people at the highest levels don't get updates very often.
Granted yes, people haven't been posting updates and whatnot despite the stated exception to necroing that post (unless thats been revoked). But there Are people who don't subscribe to things and there are people who don't log on enough to find the thread (or think it was deleted because its not on the front page anymore). From a passerby perspective, I thought it was good to have it at the top so any guest/member/whoever could easily have access to that information as it was updated.
In short, I applaud the effort you put into the thread. It was a good idea for an aspect of the game that is often overlooked for its difficulty. I feel it was plenty important to the community. That said, it's not the end of the world to see it gone just like it's not to see these old threads unstickied.

Wow, I spend 6 years in this community, longer than anyone else here, building up a reputation that I'm a smartass, and people take me seriously. I threaten to throw a temper tantrum, not an angry letter in protest, not start a debate about why the thread should remain stickied, but a temper tantrum, which, from my point of view, some members are throwing because now they have to maybe navigate a whole 2 pages at most to find a thread they were looking for, instead of using the search function of the site, or have the patience to go said 2 pages to dig up a thread that has over 2000 pages to find one thing. Sure, no one in this thread went and had a tantrum, but me saying that the average reaction this community has to change they don't like is to bitch and moan and say that they're leaving. Yep, I'm definitely not joking and being super cereal about that temper tantrum.
And hell, the fact I said I'd leave the site should have been the ultimate clue that I wasn't serious, considering I quit this site probably 5 times now (as if the fact that I had to reiterate that I was serious about throwing a temper tantrum using the word "totally" wasn't obvious enough). But of course, I forget that the community is now a serious one and can't tell the difference between satire and being completely honest.
So, since now I'm no longer allowed to be a smartass outside of Bean Rua now, I'll just say that I agree with all of stickies that were removed being removed, and I was surprised that my Rua Hentai thread remained stickied, since even I forgot about that thread. There really is no reason for most of those threads being stickied. Who seriously wants to wade through 2000 pages of crap to find something relevant? Considering that while it should have been accomplishments, it mostly ended being showing off people's epeens, a person should be able to make a new thread and have a discussion on it if they desire. Same thing. Otherwise, the people who posted in that thread saying "I logged in today" or "I haven't logged in for x amount of time" or even "I finished this fashionogi set" should just be something they put on their blogs. Same with most people's failures. They mostly don't have much discussion value, and should either just be put on a blog or not bothered to let others know because people don't care.
Plus if most of these threads are so popular, then I highly doubt they'll get buried past the third page. Afterall, that's the purpose of a sticky, right? To prevent it from being buried. So if it's indeed that popular, the fear of the thread being buried shouldn't exist, and if it does exist, then you guys must know that it's time that the thread dies out and let a new one take its place.
Seriously, you guys forgot that I'm a smartass. I hurt. T^T

Unfortunately, the search function isn't very good at times and brings up many useless topics that don't have anything to do with what people are searching for.
Though I'd like to point out that the "Post your latest accomplishments" thread for vindictus is still stickied.
As is it's failure thread.

Vindictus is already a dead section, leave it alone you bullies :(
Also, still no reply as to what the mods consider a thread that's not informative.

Your sarcasm flew past my radar as it complied with the mabination administrator daily routine:
1. Wake up.
2. Make perverted comments.
3. Leave the site.
Those threads collectively garner more posts than that entire section provided some new update hasn't been pushed out. It's completely unrealistic to expect them to fall off the first page, so why not sticky them and save us the hassle? If they're somehow buried, what do we gain by making an identical thread?
We might as well just start posting all of our accomplishments and character progression screenshots as new threads from now on in order to justify this decision.

+1
And i'd still like to know what and where this apparent "definition" of a sticky is. Was it put up on the wall somewhere when I first accessed the internet and I forgot to read it? A sticky is something that's pinned at the top of a page for
any reason.

I do completely agree with this. I tried using the search function earlier today and couldn't find what I was looking for regardless of how simple or exact my search was lol
On the other hand, I feel the need to reiterate again that people should
subscribe to threads that they feel are important to them. It takes just about the same amount of clicks to get to your subscriptions as it does to enter a forum and view stickies.
People should at least make an effort to use the subscribe button we have available to cope with the lack of stickies.

I miss all the sticky'd threads in the Mabinogi section especially.
It made things really easy to check and organized. I understand some of the moderation's points about subscribing to threads and their own thought process for as to why they were unsticky'd but I feel like mabination is a unique community in itself and decision making shouldn't necessarily be based upon how other forums are handled.
It just seems like the majority of us from what I'm reading here and from what I have heard from others who use this site, have found the sticky'd threads helpful with organization rather than detrimental in terms of forum usage and promoting activity.

Same could be said of everyone, no one should be allowed to speak in jokes at all, no one should say anything offensive at all.
No fun allowed.

Man you guys are brutal.
I'm not as firm on this as some of you are making it out to be. I pretty much had planned on giving in from the hour this thread started but held on to see what everyone had to say on the topic.
While I can't necessarily say I'm convinced, whether I agree with it or not doesn't mean anything when a large majority of the forum users unanimously ask for something. Those threads will most likely be stickied again at a later date. Give me a few more days to observe before making any changes.
As for the Vindictus stickies, I had left them alone since the boards were going to be moved. I had not looked at them at all. And for bean rua's? The one million replies was left alone as more of a tribute to our beginnings in guru, and the rua porn was left because it is thread of the millennium. I don't believe I will be re-stickying the tumblr images thread though. A lot of those images aren't even originally from tumblr! Bean rua is already a mirror for all small things.
