What you're thinking, in a nutshell.
Hasn't this whole ordeal been about fixing something that wasn't broken, however?

So far, no one has been able to argue the benefits of the original intention of removing the stickies. The only argument I've seen so far for the stickies, is "But I liked having those topics stickied!".
The administrators know what they're doing, and they did what they did for a reason. That's why they're in charge, not us.
In any case, a non"beneficial" argument based on preference is still an effective argument to some degree. You don't always need a reason to want something, and when a large number of people want it, I would be abusing my status as admin to not yield on it.
[S]Though technically I suppose I could pull a facebook/youtube, and let everyone whine for a while about all the changes they dont like until they forget what was lost and become perfectly content with how things are.[/S]
Negatives of destickying active threads in Mabinogi talk: Promotes spam, reduces activity, makes it more frustrating and annoying to go through relevant threads.

Things were fine the way they were.
You know, back when I used to play, I'd post accomplishments like "Reached total 2000", "Reached total 3000", "Attained grandmaster mage", "Mastered entire magic tab", and more fun things like that. Regardless of the size of accomplishment, I got maybe one reply for every 5~10 major accomplishments I posted. That's not fun, it's not particularly entertaining. What's the point of having a central thread for accomplishments if it reduces the chance that anyone will give a damn by 90%?
It depends on the accomplishment.
That thread serves as a centralized location for specialized discussion. I don't always get feedback on my achievements but that's better than the alternative. It's certainly preferable to someone posting a new thread for each of their accomplishments, nobody replying to your achievement thread (versus your achievement post), or people getting irritated by achievement threads and thus flaming you for even posting one.
I think that thread was made and stickied as a solution to those concerns.
How about we make a sub-section for that kind of stickies?
The thread encourages posting of mundane, [barely] accomplishments that would have never been posted without a sticky, for the simple fact that a venue for posting accomplishments exists.
I would rather have a sticky which happily collects all achievements, mundane or not, than for a number of achievement threads to get mixed in with regular discussion and flood out current topics.
Reasons for removing Mabinogi Talk stickies:
1. Improves productivity
- Unverified claim.
- Productivity is generated by character progression.
-- You're exchanging a sea of posts for a sea of threads which are to be jumbled with the regular chatter.
2. Prevents the topic from becoming outdated.
- Creating a new but identical thread will not influence the quality of content posted from an exterior source.
It's unlikely that those threads will fall off the front page regardless as they gather more posts by themselves than the rest of the section. There's no actual benefit to dissolving them nor is there any reason to hinder accessibility to the theads which produce the most discussion.
I wasn't being paid according to the number of new threads when I left site leadership. What happened? Is Osay finally going through with his plans for world domination?
This is like arguing about how to fix the economy. Because I can see it being plenty beneficial in many other ways.

The problem with that is, the people that come to the forum simply to read and post in those threads and then happen to see interesting other threads in the process will no longer see those other oh so tempting threads that make them more active than their one line accomplishments/failures.
The way I saw it before was: "Ok time to go post that I ranked up sharp mind!" /goes to mabinogi talk "Oh look a shiny thread!" /posts random stuff about things
I don't want to read about how someone got 20 gold from Shadow Wizard Elite; I'd rather read about how someone just mastered every single talent in the game, and I'd highly prefer that the latter wasn't overshadowed by the former.
Now, I haven't read every single post in that thread, but I have never seen anything of that nature posted.
It's a hyperbole.
