Un'stickied Threads?

  When a certain forum thread is popular, most mods with a head on their shoulders make it a sticky. Either for convenience of the forum members or/and to keep people from making the same thread over and over again. For example, the general server status thread was stickied for a reason, it's going to be amusing when servers go down next time.

  That's what they're trying to do, change the definition. They're trying to do their job and improve the experience for everyone in the long run by changing the definition to something smarter. Meanwhile, the people that do the exact same thing on these forums, day in and day out, see a hint of change and flip their shit. They come here, and seriously insist that they know better than these moderators and administrators, that the moderators are being stupid!
  
  Because nothing shows that you know the ins and outs of the logistics of message board management like being so goddamn lazy that you can't tolerate spending 10 extra seconds finding those three same threads you post in every single day.

  Honestly they shouldn't change their definition of wat should be stickied or not when everything was working quite nicely and functioning just fine. If anything this change has disrupted nation (if even a little bit) and made it working worse. Sure you can subscribe to a thread or w/e, but theres really no point when the threads should have just stayed stickied in the first place. And as i said before, the definition of what should be stickied or not is opinionated, not what you think it should be. Honestly the smarter choice would have been to keep the stickied threads as they were, not to change them to something they find "informational" to the sub forum.
  
  By the way, moderators are only human, so yes it is possible for them to be wrong about something, and honestly if its a majority they should go with the majority because that makes the majority happy which is what everyone wants (except the minority :P). You have yet to give me a viable reasoning behind why this change has occurred.

  I hate to draw a strawman fallacy but you don't even post in that section. Please stop playing the devil's advocate so the people who actually post in that section can tailor it to their wants and needs. A lot of people only visit Mabination to view those threads, just like some people created accounts to post in my spirit weapon thread before that content became outdated.

  I gave you several reasons, several times, Take your fingers out of your ears and listen. Also, great job on proving my point, once again you've seriously insisted that you know better than the people managing this site.
  
  Reasons:
  1) Promotes increased activity in boards, users like you franticly posting to keep that accomplishment thread from moving down the page, too-general sticky threads disappear and lead to increased discussion.
  2) Increases space for current discussion topics.
  3) Deters threads like this from being created, people don't get special treatment just because they have a popular thread.

  1) I have actually been watching the mabi talk section all day, there has yet to be any increase in posting to save the thread and there wont be because then the post would just become spam if all you want to do is keep the thread there.
  2)It hasnt increased the space, because those unstickied threads are still there on the first page taking up the space that they had before, but now their all mixed up with threads that will die out in a few days and it just creates annoyances for people that like the threads that were stickied.
  3)Thats one person wanting that thread stickied, not the majority or any popularity wanting it stickied. A thread should honestly be stickied due to relevant content to the forums, overwhelming popularity, and majority demand.
  
  All of those points were discounted earlier on in this thread when they were brought up. Give me reasons that aren't recycled and repeated and dont have a bunch of fluff behind them to make them look like decent ideas on the outside.
  
  I personally dont think that I know better than the people that manage this site on most things, however by majority demand they want restickies so ya I think that they might be in the wrong here. And honestly, as i said people are only human, moderators and admins dont know EVERYTHING. Just because they make a decision shouldn't mean that it should be accepted blindly, I'm pretty sure they look at feedback about all their decisions and if they made any mistakes. Stop catering to the moderators with every argument you have and trying to get on their good side by flattering them.

  1) Hate to admit it but when I have nothing to do I lurk on mabi talk alot, I don't have specific numbers for this specific argument, but the entire day there has been maybe 10 posts in accomplishments thread which is about the same amount it has been getting before it was destickied.
  
  2) How is that any different from when the threads were stickied? Now you just dont have to scroll an inch down to see the latest thread that someone made. Its "temporarily" more important for a good hour or 2 before someone posts something in another thread.
  
  3) I dont know anything about the subforums holding that thread so i cant comment on it, however in the forums i have been in the stickying is understandable and reliant which is what it should go back to.

  I think the only thing either of us have proved so far is that neither of us can bring up a non-superficial point.
  
  What I think this means is that it really doesn't matter either way, and you need to get over yourself because you're clearly stating that nothing is changing, in this post I'm quoting. You just don't like the change.
  
  The mods have their reasons for unpinning the threads and that should be good enough for you. You don't force them to put down their reasons for selecting the criteria of the warning system, so you shouldn't for their criteria of pinning threads. Pinning a thread is always a moderator-power in any forum. Why are the users trying to control the moderators to get what they want?

  Firstly, this isnt every other forums, its Mabination.
  
  Secondly, I see no point in destickying threads that are popular, the forums were working just fine before and had no problems with activity or anything of the sort (in mabinogi talk section anyways), so I'm still not seeing the reasoning behind destickying those threads in the first place. As it was stated before, this move seems more like a "change for the sake of change" thing and no other reason behind it.

  I'm not going to lose any sleep over all of this, however I would like a viable reason as to why it was even done in the first place since all the reasons ive been given so far seem like they are grasping at straws. I can't change anything myself so I wont fret over it, but I still dont see any legit reasoning behind the course of action taken by ashi.
  
  By the way, it is slightly annoying that I now have to sift through threads I deem "not worth my time" to find threads that I used to be able to just scroll up and click on with little to no effort.

  For alot of forums, about halfway down the page were pretty dried up and dead threads so that doesnt really help the cause much. And if wat u said is true and the popular threads will stay on the first page anyways, then doesnt that point make no sense? Now it just means that the threads are a different color....

  I stated more reasoning behind why the threads should be restickied then viable reasons that were stated as to why they were unstickied in the first place. As I said, I'm not going to lose sleep over this its not that big a deal to me, however I don't like seeing change being brought on for no reason besides wanting to change something for the sake of change. If there was viable reasoning behind it, and even if it were a big change, I would understand and accept it blindly but thats not the case here.
  
  Following blindly is a bad thing, you should always look under the surface and determine what is really going on before making any decisions. If no one speaks up about whether they feel something is wrong, or harmful when it is changed then the people who placed said change will have no feed back on their decisions, and not know whether or not they made the correct choice. You can never know what will happen when you enact changes, all you can do is look at what happens after and learn from it and apply that knowledge to future decisions and changes you make.
