Honestly for the mabi section just dont let people post stupid crap threads that have no real reason to be there.... Pet names are annoying to see (especially with the black friday deal thing), and just because it has "mabinogi" in any way, shape, or form in it for relevance doesn't mean it SHOULD go into the mabi section... I'm honestly tired of all the crap clogging up that forum, even if the quantity goes down, ill be happy with the quality going up...

This is pretty much it.

It's kind of like, imagine this:

I find a new type of flower in game, screenshot it, post it in Mabinogi Talk because it is allowed.

In fact, I can bring it to a whole new level and show the moderators how retardly stupid everything can become if they don't implement some sort of rule to prevent stupid, non-rule breaking posts in Mabinogi Talk.

I'll start screenshotting everything, ask the stupidest questions ever and make extremely retarded, childish posts about tiny graphical glitches and bugs within the game itself even if it's already discussed upon for years and years already.

Now, imagine if I do that every single day, 10 threads per day within the 18 hours that I'm awake.

Imagine the chaos. You cannot get me banned because I'm technically not breaking any rules, but I am indeed being extremely fucking annoying to 99% of the users out there, and filling your forums up with trash.

I hope you would understand from the above example.

If there was an easy option to exclude specific subforums form your personal "new posts" search that'd be okay too. But having it as a user group is just a very easy soluton.

There's a mod for that actually, that I use a version of today, that let's users create their own personal list of "excluded" forums to ignore on What's New / New Posts.

Perhaps pushing for that feature, and a sepate evern-more-general-general-mabi-chat-forum would be the easiest way to satisfy both sides of this debate

But isn't that what moderators do? Moderate the forums so nonsense is kept out (of all other places other than Bean Rua)? :/ Forums are all the same everywhere you go. There are posts that contribute and posts that people just post for +1.

I do agree with OP that there's some rules that need to be created for certain sections.

Other than that... I don't mind Bean Rua, and some people felt like Bean Rua is the only place they can share about some issues so they did it.

My only problem is that people will joke around, and tend to bully the users who were serious on Bean Rua. I mean, sure, it's the internet, but we all are humans still, and our feelings need to be considered.

From a guy who rarely visits Bean Rua and is usually in the Mabinogi section, I think Bean Rua is fine. I mean the whole section is at the bottom of the forums and I'm pretty sure most new users find the Mabinogi section and stick there like I did. I will admit though, the "pet-naming, flower screenshoting, paint drying" type of threads are not all attractive, but they do make me laugh at some of the names that are in there, so overall I'm indifferent about them.

The SPAM of them is what is kind of making me want to punt a kitten into a train going full speed. It'd be better if there was some sort of tab under the Mabinogi section for "random posts".
