The problem with fighter is whether you can actually make it to your target before your combo meter expires. Sure you can have more damage as a human or giant but if you can't make it to your target, that damage is forfeit.
Why would you have to run to your target if your'e in chain cooldown? The only time I can think of is when someone troll-smashes your monster away.
- Counter Punch, Spinning Uppercut, and Somersault Kick shouldn't matter how fast you reach the target because it should already be right there. (With the exception of Counter Punch where you have to instigate it and time it, but running to it shouldn't matter in this case.)
- Focused Fist and Charging Strike shouldn't be effected by movement speed, their movement is entirely based on the skill itself and its rank.
- Drop Kick and Pummel should be the only cases where movement speed is at all relevant. How? What angle you hit them from matters. In Drop Kick's case, you should be aiming at a direction to hit the most monsters as you can possibly handle (or away form monsters your friends are engaged in). In Pummel's case, you should aim away from monsters to stay or postpone being hit (or towards monsters if you want to be interrupted to trigger a glitch).
That being said, the only relevance to running movement speed in Fighter would be to quickly run to the other side of a monster during a chain 3 skill (if even needed). I highly doubt that would be more useful than a higher chain modifier or higher will.
The argument isn't that elves are under powered or that they are weak or inefficient, it's that they are not the best at anything.
- Giants have Melee, Lance Melee, Fighter, Dual Guns, and Alchemy.
- Humans have Puppetry.
- Lets be honest, Magnum Shot aside, Human Archery is much better than Elven Archery. The only possible way Elves could be better is if they purposefully spam level up at a low age like 10 to get higher level up stats, which are meaningless.
- Elves have a whole 9 more intelligence than Humans! Wow! Elves have a whole 1 more magic attack than humans! That's significant!. . .
- Being able to mount a horse while using archery is irrelevant because the only place that would be useful is Tara SMs (not Tara Rath), Lord SMs, and maybe Abyss Dungeons. There is just not enough room anywhere for this ot be useful.
- You could argue all you want that running speed is useful in combat but bottom line, more damage is much better.
- The only way I can see Hide being useful in combat is when you mooch on your Hydra or you run up to a group of monsters in hide to Shooting Rush or Windmill or some other instant attack. This would only be useful for the first hit in a fight and would probably be possible even without hide in most cases.
Consider all the disadvantages of Elves and consider that they barely even have any advantage at all in Magic, wheras Humans at least have a significant advantage in Puppetry and have everything an Elf has but with less limitations. How does that sound fair or balanced?
Now, Giants have 4 (5 if you consider Regular Melee separate from Lance) skillsets they are the best at. Adding another skillset that uses both Str and Will would make them the best at ANOTHER skillset unless:
- Giants cannot use Ninja
- Giants get really sucky skill multipliers compared to Humans or Elves
- Either Humans or Elves get specifically more Will or Str from ranking these skills than Giants do when ranking the same skills.
Now, Giants can use shields with Lances and some other two handed weapons. Giants get little disadvantage in Heavy Armor, in a stat they don't even use unless they do Puppetry.
In a normal game:
- One race has high damage and low defense.
- One race has high defense and low damage.
- One race has okay damage and okay defense.
In this game, Giants have high damage and high defense. Elves have low damage and low defense.
