Firstly I just want to say that my time with Mabi began when everyone and their mother wanted to be a Dark Knight or Paladin. I was highly addicted following the Iria expansions and everything that followed. I believe after the Romeo&Juliet missions, I stopped playing for a long time, either from lack of interest or life pursuits. Having come back and playing a couple months ago in my home server of Tarlach I am confounded and admittedly frustrated at what Mabi has become (from what I have seen).
I used to see people everywhere, everyone running dungeons with friends. Remembering when my friends and I would meet up at Tir or Dunbarton, and run Rundal or a shadow mission. When everyone was a bit more welcoming, and eager to enjoy a little adventure. Maybe make a campfire before setting out on a quest or mission. All I see now are people standing around showing off some snazy outfits, which they hide from equipment viewing (Never understood this). I noticed after a few days the same character standing in the same spot! No one's talking about grouping up and tackling a mission, no ones asking for someone to help them with a task. There's no sense of random adventure! Everyone is a drone set on trying to have the flashiest outfit or latest fashion. To that I say,
WTF Mabi!? This is not the game I fell in love with! The wonder and joy I felt each time I logged in is gone! No more are there fun little adventures, gone are the new friendships made from a random encounter at a dungeon. And this may just be a Tarlach thing, but it seems like no one wants to do the Dragon raids! Everytime I see the notification I jump at the chance! Remembering the Dragon raids of old with hundreds of players! Now everytime I go there is no one around. and I'm alone. All my friends from the glory days are gone, and I begin to wonder, maybe I should move on as well. Maybe the game that I once enjoyed is dead. Which honestly, I'm busy enough as it is anyway.
I've still found some enjoyment with the new content, been getting back into the swing of things. And I know my experience isn't the same as others. But this is just an honest question, from someone who truly enjoyed the time put into this game. Does anyone feel the same way? Has a different opinion? I really just want to see what my fellow players have to say on this.

Thank you.

this happens with a lot of games
it's because the playerbase as a whole, there are tons of people who are in the thousands of total levels now, they've maxed each skill and have nothing else to do, so now they're stuck doing nothing all day but standing around and being pretty
fashionogi's are truly ruling this game now

If you wanna do raids go to Alexina, otherwise what you're describing is just nostalgia. The game is loads better now apart from the genesis patch but that is also just a matter of opinion.
Admittedly you do kinda need to put yourself out there a bit more if you don't want to be soloing.

Fashion always has and will always be petty.
I can only speak on behalf of Alexina where things are so very placid inside of those tall, tall Dunbarton walls.

It seems like majority of the player base as a whole is on Alexina. Now I suppose it's just a matter of willingness to start from scratch.

this happened because "NEW SERVER" and all that
the unfortunate thing is that everything on alexina is expensive as hell
so don't expect cheap anything compared to tarlach or mari or ruairi

Tarlach is one of the least populated servers, its the server I play and don't mind it. But there isn't much to do when you're someone that has nearly everything mastered. The only thing that people like that can do is hang out, talk to friends and do the events and get off. Other than that there are people like Fashionogi's (People who pretty much play the game to play dress up). Mostly now this game, for me anyways, has just been me doing my own thing, by myself. Unless my friends call me up and ask if I wanna run a dungeon, or help with getting something. But if you'd want to kick in to the more social aspect of the game, then I'd just join an active guild, maybe become close friends with some people, close enough to have skype calls now and then, and run a dungeon or shadow mission. I think I joined like a year and a half ago, near there. But what you described back when you played, sounds like something I would have enjoyed.

The Mabinogi tag on Tumblr is a decent means of meeting people on your server or if you so choose, finding a friend-base in another server to motivate you to server swap. In my own ventures to other servers I've noticed that Tarlach and Ruairi have a smaller player-base volume than the other two servers but of course this carries its own pros and cons with it.

Yeah, I guess I just have to get used to it. But I guess it's just a bit of a surprise how much the attitude of the game has changed from what I was used to. And yes, it was pretty nice. That and a lot of the changes they made to quests and tutorials weren't implemented. a lot of it was just "Use random keyword and see what happens".

Desert and Prairie Dragon raids are active every single spawn during the weekends. People showing up to white and black dragon raids is kind of on and off while red dragon typically gets ignored.

My theory is that mabinogi is really starting to show its age now and is not attracting new players very much. So now mabi is one of those mmos that has a very small but dedicated niche audience (veterans) that spend enough money on it to keep it afloat but have experienced pretty much everything in the game and has become so strong they don't need party members to beat anything or are so bored with the game they are now fashionogiers.

HAHAHAHAHAHA
No, Ruairi is and always has been notorious for having everything at ridiculous prices.

If standing around in Dunbarton and socializing with their friends is their definition of what they do to have fun in the game, so? Why care what others do in a game that you play? It shouldn't affect your own experience anyways!
I think it is easier to attract newer players nowadays with wonderful beginner benefits, totally unlike back then where you had to pay for faster pet transport, etc. It's changed a lot for people in the lower levels.
I think that it is more along the matter of keeping them hooked onto the game. A lot of other games are more appealing nowadays, it's "harder to catch up" to the veteran players, etc.
If you want to go do runs and "adventure", you can always check the altars for parties for dailies and the like. I'm not sure how this is on Tarlach as I've never been at the altars there. I heard it's like a ghost town.
As much as I enjoy nostalgia from pre-G3, i've stuck with character progression the whole way through and sort of like where it's gotten to in terms of that. Damage is higher than ever~ I wonder where it'll be in a few more years. +______+

The altars are usually empty on weekdays. I had to wait about 30 minutes for a Provocation party today, on the
market channel.
