Having played a female character for a long while on mabi, I know the harassment follows you just about anywhere. It may not sound like much, it may just be pixels, but people are behind those pixels. The way I see it, it's a filtering process of scenarios that may have, or could have happened outside of the game based on how they present themselves.
Sometimes I feel helpless in this big world of ours when other mabinogi fantasy life characters sexually harass my 10 year old character (Yes she is only 10 and they still try to rape me, can u believe it)
sometimes they'll use the laughing gesture so it looks like i'm giving them head....i'm not...i'm a woman and i shouldn't be subjected to this.
sometimes they'll follow me around and spam rest on me............
sometiems they'll even role play on my character saying "*smex* :D" and this is absolutely NON-CONSENSUAL.
I'm upset now. Gonna go watch tv where this stupid game can't piss me off.

the sad part of all this is that there are parody videos
the one by um....idk, funny or die? that website??
they parodied it and it was so badly obviously that i couldn't finish it
what they did was replace the girl with a guy and had actors talk and do weird shit

i thought it was funny
also, the"point" of the video wasn't to parody that guys deal with harassment too, but that men get flowered in privileges when they go out

Ah, people who miss the point.
Congratulations, you are Fox News.
And yes, I travel with people whenever possible, and am no longer in a situation where I have to take the bus late. If I need to travel late, my dad takes me to/from places, and I'm getting my driver's license soon.

I had a crazy woman screaming at me through my locked door and trying to get into my house at 3am, does that count for anything?
She got arrested after the police were called, but evidently it wasn't that serious because she was back within weeks.
But I'm a man, I can't admit that a girl scared me. I had to move entire houses because I was afraid it would happen again(and a small but hilarious mix-up involving 5 garbage bags in my living room). I feel a lot safer and happier now that I am outside of government subsidized housing but now I can hardly afford my rent...
I had to choose between being able to put money into my savings account and being loan-free or taking out large student loans and living in poverty, but not having to fear my neighbors kids are going to try busting open a window again.
Cant we just re-focus everyone on "anti harassment" instead of "feminism"? It seems to me that the main problem it a small subset of people that are clearly insane. Those same men that are harassing and catcalling are probably the same ones that get into drunken fights with other men at the bars, or screamed obscenities outside of my house at 3am and tried to punch a hole in the screen when I opened my window to tell them to stop.

Part of actual feminism is dealing with the stupid expectations of men as well. It's not specifically about treating women better. Basically, it is anti harassment, in general, as long as you're not dealing with some extremist point of view.. .just like everything else.

In response to one of Murasaki's earlier comments, that's not really surprising. I think the statistics are something like 70% of rape/molestation is by someone the victim knows in a place they feel safe. So honestly you're probably better off hanging out with strangers in dangerous neighborhoods.

Couldn't you argue that that's only the case because most women spend the majority of their day in a safe setting? School, work, home, etc. If they all stayed outside in dangerous neighborhoods all day long, those numbers would be terribly skewed.
In another study, 13% of homeless women reported having been raped in the past 12 months and half of these were raped at least twice (Wenzel, et al., 2000). In yet another study, 9% of homeless women reported at least one experience of sexual victimization in the last month

Well we don't though. Pretty sure it's over the top satire dealing with the whole "white cis-gendered male privilege" thing.

I do find most of stuffs or activities (like Jesus, that guy was following right next to her for few minutes) are clearly disgusting and sexually "harassing" but what some of guys have said, it could be a complimentary instead of intending to "sexually harass" someone. Maybe it's because I live in Miami where drivers constantly open up their windows and whistle, but I mean, come on, stuff like "God bless you mami" or "What's up beautiful, have a good day", you can commonly see this in places like pub. But then again, I think it all depends on women-- some will appreciate those whistling--some will be disgusted on it.

The fact is, it's not a very respectful way to give a compliment, because it carries a heavy implication that you only care about the physical aspects of her. And just saying 'I don't mean it that way!' is ignorant. Communication is not simply about what you mean, but how you present it.
