Speaking of which, how does Fusion Bolt work with this? Can we actually CC a full 5 stacks of fusion bolt?
... 'cause that'd be hilariously fun.
Was worried about that and asked a while ago, someone or other told me there's no cc fusion bolt.

What I don't like about this wand is you don't always want to load 5 ice bolts or 5 lightnings. Going to waste all my durability clearing trash mobs.
Firebolt is pretty much the only thing I always want CC, and only once in a while I'd want CC ice or lightning.
So it comes down to choosing between efficient mana/durability management, or switching out wands all the time like we have to do now.

Back in my day wands had 8 durability if you didn't break anything, you had to repair at 97%, and you lost all your mana if you wanted to use anything else. You kids these days are so spoiled.
*shakes cane.... no wait- *shakes wand at everyone, including those who were there since beta*

That's why I didn't go full mage until they got rid of that mana evaporation shit.

How any of us old school mages survived is beyond me. Mana evap + super high ap costs + low mana potential. Of course we were fighting things much less beefy.

Hm, I'm curious on the mechanics because...

+4 CC fire wand, but
it only works when it's the second charge. If I try to start off with fire using that wand, it doesn't fuse, it changes over to the second bolt.
So with the new wand, we might not be able to fuse with it once it gets upgraded for CC?
Opposed to it being able to CC and fuse but not both (doing single charges for fusing).

Yeah I often use a single LB for stun or control, I don't need it chaining and waking everything up or something.

Pre-Genesis I used barehanded bolts for stunning things and other uses when using melee.

Eh, when we get the update, I plan on rolling the tribolt wand and the party heal staff.
If I ever need a bolt that isn't cc+4 or bolt fusion, the staff can cover that.

[S]Is there already a list of materials for making the new wand and staff posted somewhere? If it's anything already in the game right now in NA I want to start hoarding them.[/S] Nevermind that found it in the main post \0/

[S]I should adjust the names to match what we have in NA, thanks for reminding me.[/S] Guess it's all new items you'll have to get. Go figure. Aside from the magic crafting stuff that is.

Never ever ever EVER going to see Hail or Meteor being used ever again... :gloom:
The initial concept is alright, intended to be a fairly strong linear area of effect, but right now it renders other skills obsolete. For an advanced magic, it's cast time is too short, very easy to setup, and has a tiny mana cost (even LESS than Int magic, INCLUDING Elf Ice Spear). Plus the fact that it does way more damage than Hail and Meteor.

Hailstorm's only problem is that its too fragile. If it actually could LOCK a single monster without sacking using 5 charges, it'd be an excellent snapcast>single target over this. MA is also a VERY poor standard now, as you normally will see even folks in KR basing it off of how well it does in say, SWIZ hard. Single target almost NEVER shines in MA, since you will almost always have all 8 targets to hit with primarily AOE. Even Fleta round, there's enough AOE damage to annihilate over single targeting tarlach>kristell>price>fleta.
Meteor strike is still good in the fact that its long range, physical damage, and EXTREMELY high burst. Generally a safer bet to use in situations you'd find yourself risking certain death walking in there.
I don't disagree however, there needs to be a few tinkerings to fix how magic balances itself, as icebolt can be disregarded near entirely until you want the +50 int, Thunder has so few uses it hurts, and firebolt's nerf has to coincide with the fix of final hit because that's just about the only plausible reason for why they made FH stupid levels of strong.

Idk, if the ideal lightning rod use is after a crisis (like hailstorm) then (like hailstorm) it can be ignored for blaze or better yet, judgement blade and you wouldn't need as many people.

No casting speed pot or vivace either, and a staff of all things.
