That's essentially the only thing they did to "improve" archery; give Giants an overpowered Throwing Attack that's potentially on par with endgame Human/Elf archery. Everything else is minor tweaks that don't even improve the skills.
Oh, and some new crossbows with piercing level.[/SPOILER]

I thought they where giving all crossbows some base level of piercing? (But only new ones after the uddate)
This one is super misleading, as well as biased.
It's one of a rare case, about as same chance as getting Long Lasting from Peaca abyss, where a Giant would be able to hit the maximum possible damage from the god awful 50 balance.
In reality, Giant range will still be nowhere near human/elf range. So no, it's not "on par". End game archery does way more than this. Even me, not even capped archer, can do more than this.
While I agree that range update is underwhelming, please try to refrain from posting obvious bias, as it can be very misleading.
My point is, that's Archery in a Nutshell. Whether or not its still an uncommon occurrence, Throwing Attack is now absurdly powerful, despite Giants being the "worst archers". It's the only thing notable about the update, because every other skill tweak is meaningless.
Belisha's shockwave isn't actually shockwave.
One valid argument one could bring is that shockwave trains lightning mastery for some reason, but it doesn't benefit from lightning mastery, nor is its damage elemental, or anything else lightning would normally apply to. (Such as elementals, magic shields, etc.)
To me, arguing Shockwave is lightning is an equally strong argument as saying Blaze is fire.

Are all these typos then?

While comparing to long-lasting drop was an over exaggeration, I'll admit, but I'm still not going to call the so called "Giant range" viable, at least your main sources of damage.
Sure, you can *maybe reach a damage that Magnum Shot has been doing long time beforehand, but the so called "Giant range" lacks way too much utility and skills to justify it as a different talent. You don't have Crash Shot, Support Shot, Arrow Revolver, etc in Giant Range.
Also, to say that Throwing Attack is not as reforge reliant is a big understatement. The screenshot Darkblade loves to keep bringing up is possible only because the person is able to have Throwing Attack reforges. We all know Magnum Shot can hit potentially more than twice higher than that number with good enough set ups. Nowhere did I say the skill sucked, but I said the skill is not "absurdly powerful".
In general, there are way too many utilities and potential other multipliers that Throwing Attack misses out on to be considered on par with Human/Elf range, and that's the way it should be. You're not going to be providing AoE and single target damage at the same time, like Archery does. You could have it as a secondary/tertiary gear but that will be its limit, and even so, we still know there are better options.
