Lies. Meteor, Hail, and Snap Cast are fucking "difficult".
In any case I would love to see a teacher's explanation of Mana Evap before it got removed.

Snap cast has no fucking background at all. Neither does chain cylinder for that matter if I recall.
Fireball, Arrow Revolver, and Shock have very vague backgrounds. Specifically because their books can't be fucking read.
I don't recall Bash having an actual background either? I kind of skimmed through the text but the talk with Nao was just some lines of dialogue. Rage Impact, however, can't exist because its background revolves around ancient Iria and a Giant, long before the Milletian's arrival.

It's unfortunate, but their tutoring is now horribly outdated. I seriously doubt DevCAT went back to change their dialogue to fit with Renovation changes.

AR's from back when the in-game skill explanations were lore and not usage instructions.
Rydian already explained Arrow Revolver. Shock was explained quite a bit, it was one of the gifts Aton Cimeni gave the Partholon, along with the Caliburn. It was originally used as a magic, but as the mainstream goes by, I believe it was Leymore who rediscovered how to use it and adapted it into an alchemy skill.

First off, I dont' recall the term ancient being used, it was generations ago, after the curse of Irinid. Milletians on the other hand are fairly recent. Long before Iria was fully "discovered", Iria was a well known trade secret (ala the Morva Aisle sidequest and bits and bobs from Ascon and G15).
Things that did change, like mana evaporation, were not mentioned at all by Lassar.
I may be wrong but it begins with Nao telling you about a warrior who could not come to terms with himself and was raging throughout Erinn.
When you talk to the warrior, you find out that he is some apprentice of some legendary warrior in Erinn and he cannot figure out or solve his teacher's ultimate skill.
He explains that his teacher left him a hint on how to unlock the ultimate skill but he couldn't solve it, the more he tried, the less he understood to the point rage consumed him.
You, the milletian, was able to figure out what his master was trying to obtain. For you see, the master was a great warrior, and he increased his strength, but found out that no matter how much he trained, he seemed limited. He tried to increase the power of his smash, but couldn't figure it out how to overcome its weakness.
It was during when you stop the raging warrior that he finally understood. His master, instead of increasing the force of smash, he figured out a new way: to be like a shadow, to silently stream your strength through connecting blows instead of the explosive power of smash, thus Bash was brought to life.
Instead of channeling unrivaled strength and rage into each hit, but to be like a shadow, and to calmly chain attacks slowly until the damage accumulates on the target, never moving yet never ending.
Been a week now, and I am enjoying most of the changes made to Magic.
But Lightning rod is a very gimmicky skill to use and it doesn't help that it have horrible width distance for shooting Lightning rod out... I'd miss the target by like a strand of hair with this... I'd make it have 350 width instead of 200.
I had that problem quite a few times. Though people may get angry for what I am about to suggest... I use lullaby to ensure they stay still before charging lightning rod sometimes.
Likewise, I am also a bad owner, that sometimes I just summon a pet or puppet to be aggro bait as I wait til they're being mauled in a group before I lightning rod.
Lullaby help the situation a bit for me as well, though, I tend to have bad luck and miss the target by only a bit, LOL.
